Bluebell Cottage, St Just in Roseland
Bluebell Cottage is a modern 3 bedroom cottage in St Just in Roseland – a few minutes walk from the picturesque church and creek. Sir John Betjeman described St Just Church and churchyard as 'the most beautiful on earth'. Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it is an ideal base for exploring the many riverside gardens, Tudor castles, white sandy beaches and miles of unspoilt walks. Great for families, walkers and sailing enthusiasts and visiting the rest of Cornwall. There are two double and two single beds,an ensuite shower room, a family bathroom and a downstairs cloakroom. A fully equipped kitchen and utility area includes a dishwasher, oven hob and microwave, a fridge freezer and wash/dryer. There are three TVs, a DVD, Xbox and Wifi. There is car parking for two cars and an enclosed garden. When possible we like to meet guests on arrival and provide local information. We are always available on the phone or email to help and answer questions . There are small beaches within a 10 minute walk from the cottage. The coastal path, the famous Carrick Roads, St Mawes Castle, and the beautiful Trelissick Gardens are all within easy reach. There are many sandy beaches with rock pools in the area including Pendower, Carne and Towan. The idyllic old world fishing village of St Mawes, just over 2 miles away by road, provides all the local facilities you may need (Co-op store, pharmacy, butchers, bakery, pubs and restaurants). From here there are regular ferries to Falmouth and boat trips exploring the River Fal. Portscatho is another nearby fishing village on the coastal path which is worth a visit. Falmouth is Cornwall’s leading south coast resort and has the third largest, natural deep harbour in the world, guarded by Pendennis Castle and St Mawes Castle on the other side of the estuary. It is also home to the National Maritime Museum. Numerous boat trips are available from Falmouth. Truro can be reached by road or boat from Falmouth and provides both the shopping centre for the area, a market and the Cathedral. Veryan, with its famous thatched round houses is about 10 minutes drive. The fantastic sandy beach at Carne is a mile further on and should not be missed. From here you can walk along the coastal path to the quaint little fishing village of Portloe. Gardens to visit include; Trelissick, Trebah, Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project. Bicycles can be hired from Bissoe from where there are cycle trails on historic tramroads and railways – including an 11 mile trail coast to coast from Devoran to Portreath. Water sports include sailing, jet ski-ing, canoeing and surfing. There are ferries from St Mawes to Falmouth and Place as well as boat trips exploring the famous Carrick Roads up as far as Truro. Water Taxis are also available in the area. The King Harry Car ferry runs every 20 minutes and shortens the drive to Truro, Falmouth, Helford Passage, the Lizard and beyond to Lands End. There are buses approximately every 2 hours to Truro and St Mawes. Information and maps showing local walks are available at the cottage. Bluebell Cottage is great for walkers and accommodates up to 6 people but if there are just 2 of you, using only one bedroom , please contact us for a discounted price.
