You’ll have a fully equipped kitchen, separate dining area, sunroom and a sunny, fenced outdoor area. Belmont is a gem of a suburb nestled between the shores of Lake Macquarie and the Pacific Ocean, 15 minutes south of Newcastle and less than 2 hours north of Sydney. Surfing, swimming, fishing, sailing, boating, walking, bicycling, golfing and shopping – it’s all here (even a hospital and an airport). Short walk to beautiful Lake Macquarie and a short drive to ocean beaches such as Blacksmiths, Redhead or Caves Beach, most with dog exercise areas. The 16 Footers sailing club is 500 metres away with a choice of eating and drinking options, weekend entertainment and awesome sunsets overlooking the lake. It’s a short, level walk home after events or a night out at the Belmont 16s - or you can take their courtesy bus. Level walk to Woolies, Coles, ALDI, restaurants and coffee shops. Lake Macquarie Yacht Club is close with casual sailing on Wednesday afternoons, twilight racing on Friday during daylight savings and Saturday spinnaker racing. Check out Fernleigh bike and walking track – 15 kilometres through bushland from Belmont to Adamstown (Newcastle). Also close by is Green Point reserve with a 7km foreshore walking track and a gorgeous picnic area. For an adrenaline rush, try tandem skydiving over the lake. Belmont Golf club is a 18 hole Par 72 course. Full kitchen, Smart-TV, DVD, air-con in living area and two comfortable bedrooms. Small, fenced, sunny front yard. Street parking directly in front. You will have the house to yourself. Please advise when booking what pets you are travelling with, if any. Bringing a puppy or a new pet - we'll need to discuss this first. I am nearby if you have questions (in separate house behind cottage) and may be able to dog-sit for you. The cottage is in an established residential area with our neighbourhood cafe a few houses away serving up coffee and treats. The vast Lake Macquarie is an easy stroll away at the end of the street for walks, gorgeous views, a sunset picnic, a few eating places, two playgrounds, public wharfs for fishing and a good place to swim the dog. The Belmont 16’s club is 500 metres away with numerous restaurants, weekend entertainment and of course, sailing. The rebuilt Belmont Baths enclosed lake swimming area is now open; it's walking distance from the cottage or there is parking nearby. You can walk to shops, clubs and eateries and of course, the lake. If you choose to drive, you'll find parking pretty easy around the shops. The area is serviced by buses that run north to Newcastle, around the lake, and south to Swansea. Most of the clubs have courtesy buses and UBER is also an option. Pets are welcome in the house; please keep the dogs off the furniture. AIR CON: **must** be turned off when you are out. It is powerful and will keep the lounge and kitchen very comfortable IF instructions are followed and doors and windows shut. The hot water is instantaneous electric so follow instructions to have a great shower. Free street parking in front of the cottage (room for two vehicles - just). We are in an older, established residential neighbourhood so parking in front of the cottage is good - and parking that impacts the neighbours is not good. It makes having Short Term Rentals in nice neighbourhoods difficult, so please respect the house rules regarding parking and speak to your helpful host is there is a concern.
