Elissa house is the original settlement on the Il Gelso farm. It is a 17th century building, which has been carefully restored to its original architecture. It presents kitchen, living room, two bathrooms, two bedrooms, taverna, porch, garden. Elissa house is the original settlement on the “Il Gelso” farm. IL GELSO is a certified organic farm. The name comes from a wonderful mulberry tree, which was planted here many centuries ago. Local people used to call it the fairy tree. IL GELSO is 125 metres above sea level and at 3 km from the coastline. This is a 17th century building, which has been carefully restored to its original architecture. Restoration has enabled the house to be completely refurbished, while maintaining its original proportions and symmetries. The building is on two floors. The ground floor has a large living room, a well-equipped kitchen and a bathroom with a bath and a shower unit. A graceful spiral staircase leads to the upper floor, which has two double communicating bedrooms. There are also two open-air rooms – a veranda on the upper floor, and a spacious portico on the ground floor. The house is surrounded by a big garden. The house is a self-catering unit, with a fully-equipped kitchen at our guests’ disposal. Renting price includes total costs for electricity, gas, general cleaning before arrival and after departure, bedlinen and towels with weekly change, the use of the full furnished kitchen. Parking next to the house. The host will be present at arrival, we live in another house in the farm, therefore whatever you will need, somebody will be there to answer you. Being both close to the sea and to the Central Apennine mountains, our property is in the ideal location for a wonderful holiday. Just 3 km from the farm, you can relax on the beaches of the Abruzzo coast, with its array of small bays and sandy shorelines. The coast at San Vito Chietino and the neighbouring village of Rocca San Giovanni is known as the costa dei Trabocchi, famous for its characteristic fishing huts built on piles, built in the 17th century and still in use to this day. The sea in this area is so pristine and crystal clear that for several years both villages have earned the coveted Blue Flag award from Legambiente (the biggest Italian environmental organisation). Abruzzo is the region of National Parks. The Parco nazionale d’Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise, Parco nazionale del Gran Sasso e dei Monti della Laga, Parco nazionale della Majella and the Parco naturale regionale Velino Sirente are about an hour’s drive along an excellent wide dual carriageway. Lovers of history and architectural beauty will enjoy Lanciano, the ancient Roman city of Anxanum, regarded as one of the most interesting sites in Abruzzo and located just 10 km from San Vito Chietino. This house is ideal for people wanting a peaceful place in the countryside not far away from sea, historic centres and amenities.
