Rent an entire Castle (sleeps 16) & Grounds

Wiltshire, near Bath. Sleeps 12 in main castle and an extra 4 in two double beds in the Clock House 50 feet away which is a completely self contained property ideal for an entire family. You have the whole Castle, Clockhouse and grounds in the deal. There are no neighbours for miles! The Castle has 6 double bedrooms all with four poster beds, most en-suite (shower and wash basin only). There are two more double beds in the Clockhouse, as well as an extra single bed in it with a further pullout bed underneath. The Castle boasts five communal rooms; Lounge / Conservatory, Study, Drawing Room, Library, Great Hall. Dining Hall features long dining table which will accommodate up to twenty guests together. Ideal for a medieval themed feast, banquet, murder mystery weekend venue. Lounge: Four leather sofa’s in a sociable engaging U-shape. Kitchen: Latest mod cons including dishwasher, washing machine etc Features: Rapunzel's tower. Central turret with Observatory for stargazing. Beautiful tapestry panelled hallways lead to the east and west wings. Don't like stairs? Ground floor en-suite bedroom, W/C not in bedroom but next door. Grounds: 2 acres of landscaped and natural gardens teeming with wildlife. Out buildings to discover: Game Keeper’s Cottage (now a Games Barn). Summer House overlooking Duck Pond. Victorian Potting Shed. Orchard, equipped children’s play area. We don't like to brag so please read our reviews. You have the whole place and the grounds entirely to yourself. We will leave you to it, there is now no check-in or check-out as there are no keys. Everything is on digital keypads. You will be given a personal code for your stay. The one code unlocks everything. We have no neighbours for two mile, the location is completely rural. What is there to do ? Further information on "What's on" in Wiltshire, local attractions such as Longleat, Stonehenge, Lacock, Glastonbury and local Pub Guides and Restaurants. Bath, Wells and Salisbury and the Cotswolds are also all closeby from the Castle. Train: Nearest station is Trowbridge Station or Westbury Station for mainline London / Penzance trains, and then take a Taxi for an 8-minute journey to the Castle. BEDDING / TOWELS / SOAP We provide full set of bed linen for 8 double beds. Each bed has 2 pillows, 2 pillow slips, a quilt, a sheet, a quilt cover and 2 big bath towels. Each toilet has a hand towel. Each shower has a toweling bath mat. We also supply hand soap for all the sinks and basins. Sorry we cannot provide extra linen or towels for any portable / spare beds. We don't supply wash cloths or tea towels in the kitchen. The reason being that it encourages people to hand wash rather than use the dishwasher. There are different 'standards' of hand washing, so we prefer guests to use the dishwasher (we supply dishwasher tablets) because a dishwasher has only one standard - top standard, eg everything is squeaky clean. The Castle is effectively a gate house. It is a folly and was not built as a fortification. As such it is not a large dwelling, proportions are small and homely. Turrets on the whole are unusable and are for decoration. IMPORTANT – You cannot Check-in on a Saturday or Sunday. You cannot Checkout on a Saturday. E.g. you have to do a full weekend Friday to Sunday The bedrooms are particularly small as they were not originally built as bedrooms encompassing showers and sinks. To save room, showers and sinks are open plan to the bedrooms, some squeezed into corners and cleverly hidden by paneling. Some beds have access only from one side. Rapunzel's Tower bedroom is some distance from the WC. The chairs in the Dining Hall are very heavy, they are very old solid rosewood. Lighter chairs can be taken from the bedrooms if required but must be put back. The Clock house which is the separate building has a modern interior despite it's ye-olde exterior, it in no way reflects the character or quality of the Castle. It is clean, comfortable and functional and is purely used as overflow accommodation where necessary. Please don't be disappointed with this building, it is meant for just getting your head down, the actual castle is where all the fun and activity is. The Clock House has two double bedrooms, one with an extra single bed in it plus a further pullout bed underneath. This is separated by a wardrobe. The single bed is made up with linen but the pullout bed is not, so a sleeping bag or linen needs to be brought for that. The Castle is situated alongside a busy main road. It is mostly hidden behind tall trees, hedging, high banking and high fencing to reduce noise. It is almost impossible to see the Castle from the road making it difficult to find. We say all this at detriment to putting you off but we do not want guests to believe they will be entering a vast, fairy tale castle with soaring turrets, battlements and draw bridges.
