Room in Attic Apt, Lower Old Town
Quiet room in 3.5-bedroom Attic apartment right in the heart of the Bern Lower Old Town (Gerechtigkeitsgasse), right at the bus stop "Rathaus", only 5 min walk from Bear park and Zytglogge (in view). There is a 140cm double bed, a table, two chairs in your room, as well as a build-in wardrobe. Kitchen and bathroom are shared with Aleksandra. I myself (Kai) do not live there. WiFi, coffee and tea for free. THE APARTMENT * extremely central location in Gerechtigkeitsgasse right in the middle of the Bern lower Old Town * the apartment is on the fourth floor (Attic floor) of a beautiful historic building. There is an elevator. All rooms have wood parquet flooring YOUR ROOM * Sleeping & Living: despite the central location the room is very quiet (despite the bells of the Cathedral and other churches in the Old Town. The room has a 140cm double bed, table, chairs, walk-in wardrobe. The kitchen, all kitchenware, and the bathroom are shared with Aleksandra. I myself (Kai) do not live there. Aleksandra does like to talk a little, offer some tips, and will answer any questions, but apart from that she does not intend to bother you too much. SUPER CENTRAL, SAFE Absolutely central location in Gerechtigkeitsgasse right in the heart of the Bernese Lower Old Town. Bern main train station is in 10-15 minutes walking distance. Dozens of restaurants, multiple shopping opportunities, and the entire Bernese nightlife wait right at your doorstep in just 5 minutes walking distance. The most famous sights, including the Swiss fereral parliament, the clocktower 'Zytglogge' or the Bernese Münster (cathedral) are also only 5 minutes away. And even down to the quiescence of the river Aare or to the Bear Park it is only a 5 minute walk. SHOPPING Your apartment is situated right in the middle of Bern's most important shopping area. Also, there are various supermarkets (Voi, Migros, Coop, Denner) in only 5 minutes walking distance from the apartment. Due to the close proximity of the main train station (about a 10 minute walk), you can do your groceries daily (even on sundays) even as late as until 11pm. PUBLIC TRANSPORT Location: 10 minutes walk from Bern main train station, 5 seconds to Bus stop Rathaus (bus 12) or 1-2 minutes to Tram stop Zytglogge (Trams 6, 7, 8, 9, Bus 10 and others). BUSTERMINAL BERN NEUFELD Take bus 11 to Bern main train station (14 minutes travel time) or one of the busses 102 to 106 (12 minutes). PARKING + several public car parks in 1-5 minutes walking distance, at hourly and daily rates. The closest ones are “Rathaus parking” (2 minutes, max CHF 30 per 24 hours), “Casino Parking” (5 minutes), and “Metro Parking” (7 minutes). For an overview look for "parking Bern" on the internet. + there is no free parking in Bern. Prices vary between CHF 28-60 for 24 hours in the Old Town, or CHF 16-30 outside of the Old Town. + Kramgasse is not easily reachable by car (usually only coming from Bärengraben). To unload your luggage you would be allowed to stop (but not park) on the yellow lines in Kramgasse. Budget parking recommendations: + Car park "Park and Ride" (P&R) in Bern Neufeld outside of the city center, right when leaving highway #1 at "Bern Neufeld" at CHF 18 for 24 hours. From there, take bus 11 to Bern main train station (13 minute transfer). Tickets for the bus transfer are included in the parking fee. + parking on the street in the “Blue Zones” (blue only, not yellow, not white), available only in the city quarters surrounding the Old Town (10-15 minute walk or 3 minutes by Tram/bus). Parking in the “Blue Zones” is usually free overnight between 6pm and 8am (check the signs), free on Sundays and public holidays, free for 1 hour during the day if you use a parking disk, or fee-based (tickets available at the ticket machines of the bus-/tram stops) for 9 CHF (4 hours) or 16 CHF (24 hours).
