Welcome to The Groom's Cottage, a cozy luxurious retreat for two...the perfect place to relax and enjoy the unspoiled beauty of the Northern Lakes. Set in the courtyard of The Coach House and originally home to the Groomsman of the Rectory stables. Now beautifully restored to offer modern day luxury living in a traditional character cottage with delightful locally made furniture and crafts. New hosts Kay & Mark have just taken over from previous Superhost Debs and can't wait to welcome you. A Visit England GOLD award winning cottage, which has been featured in Cumbria Life Magazine. Superbly equipped locally made oak kitchen with Dolce Gusto coffee maker, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Cozy lounge with wood burning stove, Smart TV & DVD, Bose sound system and unique, locally made furnishings & fittings. The bedroom is fitted with bespoke, locally made furniture including a stunning, modern 4-poster double bed. Modern, walk-in wet room with monsoon shower, toasty underfloor heating and a handmade Lakeland slate counter, stocked with luxury Cumbrian toiletries. Outside, there's a large walled garden with spacious summer house and two separate patio areas from where you can look over the field and enjoy the dozens of wild garden birds! Perfect as a romantic break for couples, a unique honeymoon or a great base for walking in the National Park. Uldale is a traditional Lakeland village, in the Lake District National Park. Surrounded by quiet country lanes, open countryside and working farms....keep an eye out for John, the nearby farmer bringing in the cows for milking (or even offer to lend a hand!) Uldale has a great pub (The Snooty Fox) and Mae's Tearoom, which also doubles as a Gallery for local crafts, both only a short walk from the cottage. Many walks and rambles can start and end from the cottage...or just relax and watch the workings of the local hill farmers. The Uldale and Caldbeck Fells, and the area known locally as Back o'Skidda are famous for their unspoiled beauty and (Website hidden by Airbnb) of the few parts of the National Park where you can still head out walking and barely see another soul. A private, gated parking space is available and its only a short drive into the thriving market towns of Keswick and Cockermouth, each only about a 20 minute drive away and great for shopping and a choice of pubs and restaurants. The famous Wainrights (all 214 of them!) are all within the National Park and there are miles of walks around lakes or through forests such as Dodd Wood and Whinlatter. Not much further afield you can enjoy a walk along the beautiful Solway Firth at Allonby, or Silloth, with its views across the Firth to Scotland and its thousands of visiting seabirds.
