Make us your stopover to and from the West Coast - only 35 minutes to Christchurch airport. Just one hour to Canterbury ski-fields, La Belle B&B Country Retreat offers relaxing accommodation for 1-2 guests and includes a self-serve Kiwi-style continental breakfast (including tea and coffee), quality Sleepyhead chiropractic queen bed, separate private lounge, and country bathroom with bath and shower. We can even help you with your South Island itinerary! La Belle B&B is part of an established country home set on half an acre. The private bed and living rooms have recently been refurbished with guests in mind. Furniture has been locally sourced and upcycled - each piece with its own story. The new queen bed and associated bedding and linen have all been chosen for their quality and for your comfort. PLEASE NOTE: while there is no access to cooking facilities, there is a microwave (suitable for reheating food) plus a small refrigerator in the living area. Laundry facilities are not available for overnight stays. The local Sheffield Hotel is just 1.5km from the B&B and is available for Bar & Restaurant meals - Tues to Sun. Guests will have independent external access and will be provided with a key. Off street parking is available. We are happy to help with any queries and can supply information on local attractions and nearby cafes and restaurants. Generally guests will be left to themselves to enjoy a peaceful stay in the country. We encourage you to enjoy our country garden with its abundant birdlife including cheeky fantails, wax eyes, sparrows, swallows and occasional bellbird along with lavender and roses (summer) and mature flowering rhododendrons and camellias (spring). You can also check out our lawn labyrinth (summer only) and our little meditation garden complete with resting Buddha. Waddington is a small country village beside Sheffield, 9 minutes from Darfield or Springfield, and just 35 minutes from Christchurch. Situated at the junction of Route 72 and the Great Alpine Highway, Waddington is the ideal base for day trips to Oxford, Castle Hill’s limestone rock formations walk, Cave Creek Scenic Reserve, Arthur’s Pass National Park, Washpen Falls, Kowai Bush Walk, and jetboating on the Waimakariri Gorge River. Having your own vehicle is necessary, however once here you can take a stroll about the village or to nearby Sheffield (1km). You can also make Waddington your country base for a day trip to the West Coast aboard the TranzAlpine. Join the train at Sheffield and traverse the Southern Alps to Greymouth and back again. Finish your day with fine dining at the local country Sheffield Pub (1 km from Waddington). Don't forget to visit our local Sheffield bakery - famous for its delicious pies.
