Une Vue de la Corniche
Une Vue de la Corniche is a charming cottage, 80m square, set in its' own garden with stable doors leading to the cosy living room, with exposed beams, terracotta floor tiles, naturally finished stone walls and a Godin log burner. Downstairs is a spacious kitchen, utility room, shower and toilet. The wooden staircase leads upstairs to a double and twin bedroom, offering spectacular views, a bathroom and separate toilet. Vue de la Corniche is a renovated barn which is part of a 19th century farmhouse, separated by a large indoor/outdoor barn and stables, enabling complete privacy. Directly facing the Pyrenees, the gite is intended to be a tranquil place to inspire, re-energise and relax you. I bought this wonderful place called Lieu dit Rachat set on 3 hectares of land in July 2019, but due to the pandemic, I only moved here full time from the U.K. in October last year. I ask that you are patient as adjustments or improvements are being made -work has been delayed enormously, but slowly, exciting improvements are happening-mainly the heated salt water swimming pool which will now be ready for 2022 bookings. There are 2 sofas and an easy chair with coffee table in the living room and a entrance to the right of it takes you into the spacious, equipped kitchen, with new fridge freezer, gas hob with extractor hood, kettle, cafetiere, dining table and four stools. Beyond here is the utilty room with new washing machine, iron, ironing board, and hot water tank. Beyond here is a downstairs toilet and shower room. Upstairs is a twin bedroom on the right with chest of drawers and a rail to hang clothes. The beds are divans and can be joined together to make a large double bed if required. There is space on the landing for storage. A second landing gives access to a separate toilet, and a bathroom with Jack & Jill doors as it adjoins the master bedroom, which has a double bed, chest of drawers and a rail to hang clothes. The water and heating is electric. A new heating system was installed over the winter. Outside there is space to have a barbeque, decking, table and chairs to relax and enjoy the view. Plenty of parking space by the house. Wi-fi is currently not available inside the gite, but the main house wi-fi can usually be connected to in the garden and mobile hotspots are easily accessed. A car is essential here. Parking right by the gite. I will not always be on site but at the end of messaging/phone,/emails, etc.and I have the support of two great people very close by should you need assistance in my absence. At Vue de la Corniche, you are in the Comminge countryside, a few kilometres from the Gers, Ariège or Hautes-Pyrénées. Set on a ridge facing stunning views of the fields, valley and Pyrenees chain, the gite is on the outskirts of a small hamlet called Gensac de Boulogne which has one small auberge within walking distance (15 mins); other amenities are all within easy driving distance. The nearest town is Boulogne-sur-Gesse, 10 mins drive away, a pretty market town which has 2 supermarkets, 2 bakers, a butcher, pharmacy, newsagent, 2 bars, petrol station, bank/cash machine and a variety of options for eating out. There is also a fantastic large open-air swimming pool with 3 pools of varying shapes and sizes and a chute. This is beside a boating lake with picnic area, tennis courts, pitch and put. 15 minutes drive to Castelnau Magnoac another lovely market town, you will find a lake that you can walk around with a pontoon and beach/swimming area and not far from there, a wildlife lake for enthusiasts of ornithology. There is also an airport for flying and parachuting! There are many options for walking locally, though if you feel like doing something more strenuous, there are plenty of bracing walks and cycling opportunities in the Pyrenees and in season, skiing, only an hours drive away. The Tour de France has passed close by in previous years during the Pyrenean mountain stages. In 2019 it passed 30 minutes away through the medieval hill-top town of Aurignac. Many nearby towns hold weekly markets, and you can find one every day of the week, if you love markets! A car is essential. Walking guide books in the gite. Nearest airports are Toulouse, (1 hour 15) Lourdes/Tarbes. (1 hour) Train station, Lannemezan, connecting from Tarbes or Toulouse (25 minutes)
