One month and longer bookings preferred! - we have really set this place up ideally for long term stays. It is also listed at Air BnB 'Sublets' which helps you book long term bookings. Please don't hesitate to message if you think it would be perfect and you need a shorter stay, we can chat. A beautifully renovated and light drenched retro apartment in Melbourne's trendy inner north, Coburg. Accommodates maximum 2 adults. Wireless unlimited fibre internet, large lounge area with piano, books, records and cds for guest use. Lounge bookshelves and furniture is custom designed by Heather for the space. We've also made the balcony a private garden space with plants, a seat and rustic bamboo fencing. Kitchen has custom breakfast bench, gas stove, microwave, fridge, and all cooking equipment. Open plan lounge/kitchen has a new Daikon Air conditioning/heating split system. Separate laundry room holds the fridge, new microwave, washing machine, ironing board and cleaning equipment. Keeps open plan design more peaceful. Leigh is contactable at all times via email and various messenger apps and is happy to help with suggestions of where to eat or shop. Close to Coburg's many cafes, shops, tram line 1 (to city) and Merri Creek we hope you'll have a peaceful and enjoyable stay. The apartment block is nestled in gardens, it's pretty quiet and all rooms have views and morning and sunshine. The bedroom is sun drenched in winter. Bedroom has ceiling fan, oil heater, wardrobe and drawers and a brand new comfortable bed. Details are as per below: THE BEDROOM Large bedroom with queen size bed, fan, oil heater, wardrobe with hangers and chest of drawers and views. We most liked watching the sky in bed! THE HALLWAY There's an inbuilt storage cupboard for provided linen and space for a desk, chair and printer. THE KITCHEN Wonderful open-plan and fully equipped kitchen to cook in. LAUNDRY Located in laundry room beside kitchen. Large washing machine, portable clothes line with pegs. If long stay - there are clothes lines behind the building in full sunshine. We supply you with our contact number and email to contact us at any time and are available 24/7. We are keen to help with any suggestions/information you may need during your stay in Melbourne. Coburg (like any inner northern suburb in Melbourne) is a great place to live and stay, and maintains its wonderful multi-cultural vibrancy. It has easy access to the city and airport and has so much character to seek out. Coburg is home to the lightest, fluffiest falafel in all of Australia at one of the many reasonably priced Middle Eastern food shops. (Leigh's favourite!) The Cornerstone Pizzeria is our great newly opened family restaurant. (Right downstairs!) Post Office Dining Hall/Cafe and Hotel is stylish modern cuisine and a 15 minute walk (great place to have dinner, listen to fantastic live music or sit in their awesome leafy beer garden with a pint). There is a lovely retro style cafe just around the corner called 'Rubys Café' with great food and we love visiting Becky there. 'True North' is just over Sydney road and a great example of a perfect Melbourne café. The 'Eastern Block' and 'East Timor' are 2 other great cafes nearby. There are new cafes popping up everywhere at the moment! The quirky Woodlands Hotel is also nearby and well worth a visit. And then, Sydney Rd and Lygon street are fantastic and well worth an explore when you're on your way to the city with lots of No. 19 tram stop-off points! Be sure to visit Green – a cafe at the end of Sydney Rd in Brunswick for some amazing home-cooked goodness at cheap prices or 'Ray' for breakfast. CERES, an environmental park with a cafe, farmers markets/stalls, a fantastic nursery and community vegie patches/initiatives. The gardens where they grow their terrific vegetables are at the corner where Harding St meets Merri Creek and you can buy at the farm gate on Saturdays! There is also a COBURG FARMERS MARKET. It's on every 2nd and 4th Sat of the month at Coburg North Primary School - lots of awesome produce. Our inner neighbour, Brunswick (Moreland Road is the border) is full of trendy bars, cafes, shops, pubs, restaurants, food trucks, parks etc. Brunswick's the hippest place in Melbourne and we love our custom t'shirts "Coburg it's practically Brunswick" - got 'em at A Minor Place cafe. GETTING AROUND Our apartment has excellent fast access to transport of all kinds. Firstly, trams are just around the corner and train isn't too far, so it's easy to get into the city or other places along the way such as Brunswick (neighbour), Melbourne University, the hospitals, Queen Vic markets for fresh food or the Royal Melbourne Zoo! In addition, Merri Creek has a bike track which goes into the city (with great stop-off points along the way like CERES and North Fitzroy!) Whether you're seeking op-shopping, unique, independent fashion, boutique wine bars, great pubs/live music, restaurants, coffee, fabric, gardening, parks, vintage, jewellery, bridal wear, Melbourne-made craft, the Melbourne Zoo, or record stores, there's something for everyone on this side, if not on Sydney Rd, Lygon, Nicholson or Brunswick Street. Go explore to find those places tucked away in little lane ways and unexpected places that no travel book will know about. TRAM No 1 tram (to city) 2 minute walk - (Nicholson Street stop - Corner of Harding Street and Nicholson Sts) OR, No 19 tram Sydney Road (Sydney road to city) - (Corner of Sydney Road and Harding Street), 10 minute walk. TRAIN Coburg Station (20 minute walk or 5 minute drive), a little further but great for the Zoo and train to city. FLYING We loved this apartment as an ideal location for flying to and from interstate/overseas as it won't cost much for a cab being roughly halfway between the airport and the city. DRIVING No. 12 covered carport for personal parking. There are no permits needed to park outside (on-street parking). Opp. side unrestricted, our side two hours. Access to the 'CityLink' freeway which makes getting into the city, Flemington, Docklands, the hospitals, the Hume Hwy or west, east or south Melbourne convenient. It takes about 15-25 mins from the house to the city (offpeak), depending on which time and route you go. Other Things to Note Merri Creek paths and playgrounds both north and south. Local food favourites: Rubys café. Cornerstone Pizzeria restaurant. Sydney Road end: True North Café and Two Monks Café. The Deli Coburg 401 Sydney Road, and loads of great food places. Excellent local hairdresser Ninja Hair 140 Nicholson St and check out our great local flower shop next door. No 1 Tram on Nicholson and Harding Street Corner - 1 minute walk. No 19 Tram on Sydney Road - 10 minute walk. Train to city/Flinders Street Station - 20 minute walk Coburg Station. 15 minute drive to Tullamarine Airport. The L-shaped building was built in the mid 60's and we've renovated ours to maintain it's character and solidity. I love refurbishing and re-using furniture and fittings so have designed the space myself and refurbished whatever parts I could to maintain the character of the place. It is an artist's combination of Retro, Japanese and rustic Australian design. The shelves and day bed are custom built to maximise use of space and light in the living area. This apartment is our home in Australia that we'd like to share with you. Please enjoy the contents of the apartment, and leave things as you found them. Anything missing after your stay will be charged in full. The entire apartment EXCEPT smaller second bedroom, which is storage (you're not sharing with anyone the whole place is for you!) As often as required - email, phone, instant message available 24/7
