Artist/writer's cottage with lots of natural light, a cozy gas fireplace and eclectic furnishings situated in a beautiful garden. Fully equipped kitchen for home-made meals and an open plan living/dining room with fireplace on first floor. Second floor consists of a master bedroom with a queen sized bed and 2nd BR with two twin beds. Full bathroom. Easy 12 minute walk from Metro North Harlem line (Katonah station), if you'd like to come by train! Great option for Caramoor music festival. Books abound throughout our cottage as well as two rocking chairs perfect for reading or lazing by the fire, reading one of our many books or just gazing through the glass doors into the garden. Each floor includes a well equipped writing desk and upstairs has a laptop friendly sofa chair. Air conditioning, central heat, WiFi and Sonos speaker equipped. Our cottage is ideal for a family of four, a get away for a couple, a writing retreat for the author or for the single traveler looking for a central, transit-friendly location to explore the lower Hudson Valley or western CT, but still be just an 60-70 min train ride from NYC. Guests havde access to the entire cottage and with permission, the patio shared with the main house. Your host will generally be available next door in the main house of the property and always will be connected via text or phone. Quick walk to Katonah village to enjoy local shops, galleries, grocery stores and several local eateries. 12 minute walk / 4 minute drive to Metro North train to NYC and an 8 minute drive to world famous Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts. Enjoy local visits to the Katonah Museum of Art, Lasdon Arboretum's gardens, hiking at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, or take in the history at John Jay Homestead. Enjoy the greater Hudson Valley. Quick trips to Brewster (15min), Pawling (25min), Dover Plains (50min), Poughkeepsie (50min), Millerton (70min), or Beacon (45 min). Other activities: indoor rock climbing (17min),Thunder Ridge Ski Area (25min), Spash Down Park (40min). Two parking spaces for cars. If arriving by train, your host, will pick you up at the Metro North Katonah train station if he is available. Otherwise, it is a 12-minute walk or a quick taxi ride.
