Queens Gate, formerly known as 'The Queens Hotel', was built in the 1850's and is thought to be one of the oldest hotels in South Devon. Meticulously restored and re-configured in 2019, the building has been sympathetically renovated to provide a stunning collection of 21 apartments. Flat 1 was the show home, a spacious 1 bedroom apartment benefiting from a stylish, contemporary finish. One enters the property via an entrance armed with an electronic keypad, down a corridor that takes you to the apartment’s door. To the right of the door is a key safe where you will find the door key. On entering the apartment a spacious hall greets you with console shelf and mirror. Doorways lead off to the bathroom, bedroom and living area. The bathroom is fully equipped with full size bath with rain and hand shower over, basin, wc and towel warmer. The bedroom is a large light room with a large built-in wardrobe, bedside table and a king size bed. The living area is open plan, approached by a stone archway, previously the entrance of the bar from the lounge area of the hotel. The kitchen is well equipped with integral appliances; oven, hob, fridge and washer dryer. It has been stylishly finished with premium quartz worktops. There is a dining table serving four and then a light lounge area with a corner sofa that converts into an oversized double bed. Television is provided by a smart TV. The apartment also benefits from central heating throughout. There is plentiful on-street parking nearby, unrestricted overnight and two pay and display car parks within a five minute walk. Guests can access the property through a coded door and outside the flat will be a lockbox containing the keys. Help is just a phone call away! We are local to the area. Queens Gate is in a fantastic location for transport links and local amenities. The apartments are located next to Courtenay Park, a great space on a warm summer's day for a picnic with friends or for children to play. Close by is the Newton Abbot racecourse which holds frequent events for all of the family to enjoy, or if you would like something more relaxed then spend the day at Decoy Country Park where you can find lovely walks around the lake and water sports such as paddle boarding and canoeing. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, Newton Abbot is a thriving historic market town, which offers cafés and restaurants, shops, supermarkets, the racecourse, hospital, pubs and a renowned cider bar. Well connected, Newton Abbot has a main line railway station to London Paddington which can be found a short walk away, it also has easy access to the Devon Expressway and the M5. The apartment is within a stones throw of numerous restaurants and takeaways. Although the apartment has no private parking, plentiful on-street parking is available nearby. The train station is opposite and a stop for all main local and regional bus services are a minute’s walk. All of the town’s amenities are situated within a short walk, numerous bars, restaurants, shops, supermarkets. Short term on-street parking is available directly outside the entrance. Parking is free on the road for you over the weekend. Otherwise you can park in the train station car park. This costs £4.20 per day or £30 per week.
