Little Cape in Collinsville
This cape is larger than it seems. Built as a single bedrm home in the '50s, expanded w/2 Bedrms (1 Q, 1 F) + Bathrm w/shower upstairs. Living room couch could serve as Single bed, an additional folding chair becomes another single bed. Sunroom couch opens flat to F bed, bathrm w/tub on 1st flr. Clean, comfortable, peaceful. Non-smoking, chemical-free. Room ACs, Wifi, but no cable. Easy commute to Hrtfrd, W.Hartford, Simsbury, Farmington, Avon, Hospitals, Bradley Airport. 6.5 mi to Ski Sundown. The upstairs has been dormered out to create 2 bedrooms and a 3/4 bath. For very tall guests (6' or taller), the upstairs hallway between the bedrooms will feel too short, but it is fine inside the bedrooms. (we are 5'7" and 5'8" and it's just fine for us.) Main and upper floors only. (avoid basement, garage & attic storage areas) We're typically 5-90 minutes away (depending on the day and time) and are typically available within an hour or two by text or phone for questions and concerns. We will be around to take out trash/recycling if our guests are not able to do so; trash is put out Monday evenings, for pickup on Tuesday mornings. Recycling is also Tuesday, same time but alternate weeks (one day later on holiday weeks.) The dehumidifier in the basement needs to be emptied daily in Spring/Summer, and every few days to weekly as the humidity lessens in Fall/Winter. We have had guests who have readily taken on that task, but if you prefer, we can do so, generally on the way to or from work, at an agreed-upon time. Various other periodic household tasks (like Spring and Fall garden cleaning up, garden weeding and planting, installing or removing window ACs seasonally, putting out or taking in deck furniture, household maintenance, etc.) are done as needed, and we always try to coordinate with our guests' schedules, ideally when you will be out anyway. During CoVid, we minimize entry into the house, and may ask guests to do simple tasks that we would have otherwise done, like emptying the dehumidifier. We are still around if needed. Instead, we will try to coordinate with guests for linen switches, if you are staying longer than a week. For long-term guests (longer than 14 days), we ask that you agree to thoroughly clean the house regularly/weekly during your stay, and launder/change linens at least weekly as well. For those long-term guests who prefer a more hands-off type arrangement, we can arrange weekly professional cleanings during your stay instead, at an additional charge to cover the cost of the cleaning crew. During CoVid, cleaning crews will expect the guest/s to be outside of the house for a minimum of 3 hours prior to their arrival and while they are inside the house cleaning. An in-between arrangement can be made, whereby we will pick up and replace linens from the doorstep weekly, while guests commit to regular weekly cleaning and upkeep of the bathroom, kitchen, living and sleeping areas. Thank you in advance. Situated in a wonderful, walkable neighborhood. Sidewalks lead to the bike trail which runs from downtown Collinsville (site of the old axe factory), alongside the river (next to restaurants, shops, ice cream parlor and miniature golf) to hook into the rails to trails 25-30 mile route into Massachusetts. 40 minutes over a nice back route to Bradley International Airport. We try to have lawn/garden care done between guests, but when this is not possible, we will coordinate with our guests for timing of lawn mowing, and gardening/hedge pruning as needed during the spring and summer growing seasons; leaf pickup in autumn, and in the winter, we may need to coordinate snowplowing. For longer stay guests, we come by about once a week for lawn and yard care in the summer. Please also see "Guest Interaction" section, above.
