Burgundy, nature & history.

Ideal for a relaxing family vacation in a healthy and calm environment. This house is located in a region full of history & a very rich gastronomy (its wines are well known all over the world). The property is set at the French region of Burgundy, at the heart of Morvan’s Regional Natural Park, close to the frontier of the Nièvre (58) & Yonne (89) departments (French departments). Rental house (part of a recently restored cottage). This cottage is situated in a property of 2 ha (20.000 square meters), in the middle of nature, surrounded by trees, fields, hills and a pond. The closest neighbour is 1 km away from the property. The closest town is Avallon, 25 kms away from the property. It is absolutely necessary to have a car during your stay. Description : The house is about 250 square meters. It has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large living room-dining room and a kitchen. It has as well a very nice garden terrace with a beautiful view of the surroundings. The inner space of the house, an ancient farm, has been restored in a loft-style fashion. The deco consists on a mix of vintage objects and furniture. The house can comfortably accommodate up to 8 people in 4 separate bedrooms (3 bedrooms with a double bed and 1 bedroom with 2 single beds; usually this last bedroom is used for the children). The house is divided in two floors: • The ground floor, the terrace and the garden: open space consisting of a large living room with a chimney, a dining room with an open kitchen + 1 bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom with a toilet, shower and a bathtub + arrangement drawers + a room for the central heating system, for the washing machine and the dryer. • 1st floor : the mezzanine, reading // chill out space connected with the living room + 1 bedroom with a bunk bed consisting of 2 adult size beds (though this room is usually used as the children’s room) + 2 bedrooms each of them with one double bed + 1 bathroom with shower and bathtub + 1 toilet room (a WC).. *All the double beds are in fact two simple beds that may be separated. **A folding baby bed is avaliable at the house. ***Equipement : washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, microwave, oven, induction cooker, internet (there is also a café-internet space at the closest village, Lormes, 5 kms away. - Places to see around the area and things to do (some highlights): Nature around here is very rich. You may find rivers, lakes and the famous Canal du Nivernais (leisure crafts circuits are offered all around the Canal). Ideal for hiking, swimming at some of the rivers // lakes, rafting, canoeing, kayaking and horse riding. There are many towns and villages that you may visit in the region. The region is crowded with monuments and historical sites. As an example, close to the property, you have the village of Vézelay. A defendable hill town, very famous for its Abbey. The village and the Basilica of St. Magdalene are designated UNESCO World Heritage sites. Other sites to see for example are Avallon, the castle of Bazoche … The region is also very well known for its gastronomic sites. Burgundy’s wine is world wide known, and you may find vineyards and wine culture all around the region. You may find also a wide variety of cheeses, charcuterie and a high quality beef (the classic dish “beef bourgignon” is one of the typical recipes from Burgundy). There are severeal Michelin-starred restaurants in the area, like for example Bernard Loiseau’s restaurant at Saulieu and Marc Meneau’s restaurant at Vézelay.
