Coastguard cottage with panoramic sea view
Penarvor Cottage is a former coastguard house that was fully renovated in 2021. It is about 500 metres from the sea and looks out over Lizard Point, the most southerly point on the UK mainland. It is a very quiet location with National Trust fields in front that slope down to the water. It is only a few minutes walk to the South West Coastal Path and The Lizard village. Local beaches include the picturesque Kynance Cove. Feel free to contact us with questions prior to your booking and your stay. When you are actually at the cottage you will be able to contact our house keepers who live in the village. The location has a sense of slight remoteness. The cottage is one the most southerly houses on the British mainland as it is on the southern edge of the most southerly village. It faces out towards the Atlantic and experiences the same weather as the nearby lighthouse. It is in an official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and looks out over fields and cliffs owned and protected by the National Trust. As this is a relatively remote rural and coastal location, the Lizard Peninsular as a whole is best explored by car. But as the cottage is just a few minutes from the South West Coast Path it is an idyllic location for a walking holiday that does not need a car once you are here. There are networks of footpaths all around The Lizard village that link together the local beaches, and these provide walking routes that are circular as there is water on three sides. Vehicle access is via a section of unmade road and then a narrow single-track lane. There is also a tight turning into the drive. This is a rural location, so these conditions are very common in Cornwall, but drivers do need to take care.
