Two large, comfortable bedrooms with luxurious guest bathroom and lounge, ideal for groups of four people travelling together. Escape to the country in a stylish period home with views of England's highest mountain and beautiful coastline. Enjoy a touch of luxury, a five star breakfast, peace & quiet guaranteed. Secure parking, close to the station, ideally located for Wasdale and Eskdale valleys, Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway, Muncaster Castle and the beautiful Cumbrian coast. Built as the village school in 1823, the Georgian house has been recently renovated to create a cosy, welcoming home with many original features and all modern conveniences. There are beautiful views of Scawfell and Wasdale from the rear, and over Ravenglass to Black Coombe at the front. Set back from the road on a private drive, it's the perfect place to chill and relax after a busy day. The bedrooms have large beds (a Super King bed in the second room can be made up as twin beds, and there is also a sofa bed in this room; additional charge of £30 per night for a fifth guest). There's free wi-fi and a desk if you need to stay in touch with work during your stay. The large, luxurious guest bathroom has a walk-in shower and deep, freestanding bathtub - we provide plenty of fluffy towels and bathrobes for each guest. Our guest lounge has a cosy, quiet area and a sitting room with TV, DVD player and surround sound. There's a selection of books, games, video and audio CDs. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the peace and quiet of the house and garden, and to treat the place like a home from home. COVID 19 UPDATE - due to social distancing guidelines we can't offer evening meals, or the use of the lounge which is a shared space. Please wear a mask when checking-in and coming down for breakfast and comply with handwashing/sanitation/social distancing guidelines. We will cancel (with full refund) if we are required to self-isolate at any time during your stay. We love meeting people, and we're happy to chat about (almost) everything, but our prime concern is to ensure that your stay with us is relaxing and enjoyable - we'll greet you with tea, home-made cake and a smile. We can offer advice on walks and activities in the area, tell you the best places to eat and shop, or share a family meal (additional charge of £10 pp for 2 courses), but if you just want to be left alone, we will leave you to it! There are pleasant walks from our front door, and we're only a few minutes away from a magnificent beach and the beautiful Wasdale and Eskdale valleys. The West Coast Rail line is spectacularly beautiful as it crosses estuaries to the south, heading for Lancaster, and clings to cliffsides to the north en route for historic Carlisle. We are close to several award-winning golf courses, freshwater and sea fishing, riding and cycle hire companies – and of course there are many miles of fells and forests to explore within a short drive. We can advise on all of these to make your stay particularly memorable. You can reach us easily from the M6 or via rail - the West Coast Rail line is spectacularly beautiful as it crosses estuaries to the south, heading for Lancaster, and clings to cliffsides to the north en route for historic Carlisle. As we are surrounded by fields, you may from time to time be disturbed by our tame blackbird, local sparrows, chattering swallows, nosy cows looking over the wall, the occasional banter between the horse and rooster on the next door farm, and the sound of the grass growing.
