The Holiday on Castle Street ~ Farnham, Surrey
This lovely 400 yo Grade-Two listed flat on Castle Street overlooks the historic Market Town of Farnham, Surrey. A few years ago I made this idyllic town my home with the goal of creating a warm and welcoming retreat. When living in the City I rent it out so others have the chance to enjoy it too. Restaurants, shops, spas, pubs and historic destinations abound, all within walking distance! (Plenty of local car parks too.) An ideal place to relax, let your hair down and unwind... My home is a 400 yo pub refurbished to a modern standard with historic characteristics. From the exposed wooden beams in the bedrooms to the period windows in the living room, everything about this space is light, airy and cosy. Don't miss the sunset out the bath window. It is spectacular! You will have full use of the entire flat. I am available on my mobile for your entire stay. Simply use the Airbnb app to contact me and I'll respond right away. Farnham is called Craft Town and is home to the University of Creative arts where students from around the world come to study film, design and other creative disciplines. There is always something going on at The Maltings, just a short 10 min walk down the road where artists put on theatre productions, makers sell their creations and some even take up private studio space. You may also enjoy a visit to Farnham Castle and Farnham Park, located at the top of Castle Street. The park is an expansive 320 acre woodland with a variety of walking routes and incredible vistas. For golfers, there is a nine-hole public course next to the Castle with a driving range a couple miles down the road. A new yoga studio called Ebb & Flow just opened on the High Street and you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to shops, watering holes and fantastic restaurants! There is a full size Boots on the High Street and the Lion & Lamb is a lovely cobbled shopping street with Waitrose at the top end, all 2 minutes walking and just around the corner. Dreamy! People are very friendly here and if you love history, there is even a little museum of Farnham on the High Street across from the UKs most renown guitar shop, Guitar Village. The whole village is a photographers dream. Social media posters, Farnham will be a haven! BY TRAIN: a direct 55 min SW Train from Waterloo Station will leave you with a short 7 mins walk from Farnham station through the lovely Gostrey Meadow Park to front door. Trains typically depart every 30mins. BY CAR (and parking): should you wish to drive there are a variety of car parks very close to the property as well. Sunday, parking is free. The closest car park is located in the centre of the Town Square and can be accessed at the lower end of the Town Square. TAXI RANK: there is a fully functioning taxi rank nearby as well. And UBER is often available in the area via the app, but not necessarily always reliable. An Addison Lee booking is a safer bet for airport runs if a specific departure time is required. As with all homes, they each have a unique personality. Please do have a read of the House Guide in this listing to help you navigate the quirks! As this is a Market Town, there is a bit of hustle and bustle on the street from fairly early in the morning, however, it simply adds to the overall feel of the place. There is a clocktower than chimes a bit too! You might feel like you've stepped back in time... Gail's Bakery, just below the property, often bakes bread on site and the smells wafting through the breezes in the early morning hours are hard to resist! If you are attending a baking course at Squires International Kitchen, this is the perfect location to photograph your work. The large island in the kitchen with floods of natural light allow you to take pics of your works of art in the event you don't have the opportunity to take them home with you. I've uploaded one of the images from my Mark Tilling Master Chocolate course to give you an idea. There is a code required for the Front Gate that is locked between the hours of 8pm - 6am. There is another code required for the main door that is active at all times. These codes and instructions for locating the key to the front door of my home will be provided upon check-in. There are plenty of local car parks too, with the closest being only a 3 min walk from my front door.
