The 1889 Schoolhouse B&B retains the charm of this heritage one roomed school while comfortably welcoming guests with furnishings and art from around the world. The three bedrooms with en suite bathrooms are in the modern addition whose design compliments and blends effortlessly with the old. A superbly furnished kitchen overlooks the informal breakfast area for small groups while larger gatherings can utilize the dining area of the schoolhouse section. COVID-19 Health Safety Precautions protocol: -Upon arrival, each is guest is asked to ring the bell at the front door of the house. The host will greet and instruct each guest on how to proceed to follow the proper COVID-19 protocol in place. Guests are not to enter the house before being greeted by the host. The following is a general description to inform potential guests about the COVID-19 protocol in place. -Guests will enter the house from three (3) different entrances. Room #1 will enter from the front entrance/door, guests of room #2 will enter from the back lower deck entrance/door, and guests of room #3 will enter from the upper deck entrance/door. For room #2 and #3 a path way on the right side of the house leads to the back of the house, where the deck/patio is. -There is a hand sanitizer at each entrance. -There will be a 24hr time gap between booking for every room Breakfast serving: -Guests of rooms #1 and #2 will be served breakfast at separate tables at least 10 feet apart located in the old school house. Guests of Room #3 will be served breakfast at a table located in the dining area by the kitchen. -Guests will be served personalized breakfast of their request in consultation with the host. The exact variety and quantity will be served for guests to pick up: * for rooms #1 and #2 breakfast will be served on a separate table located in the old school house for guests to pick up * for room #3 breakfast will be served on the kitchen counter (bar counter) for guests to pick up -Breakfast could also be served at separate times if guests prefer this option. Other general sanitary practices: -Wear of a mask is recommended when inside the house (except when inside the rooms or when sitting at a table for breakfast). Couches in the old school house (living room) are at least 10 feet apart. Guests who are together can enjoy the old school house while being at a good distance from other guests. -The host will wear a mask at all times -Rooms will be entirely sanitized as per protocol after every guest stay. All surfaces guests come in contact with throughout the house (door handles, doors, stairs ramp/railing, chair handles, couches, tables, etc) will also be sanitized. There are three bedrooms available for booking, Two king sized beds, and one Queen sized bed for a minimum of 2 nights booking. All rooms are with en suite bathroom. This listing is for the King Sized bedroom on the main floor. Please check the other two listings for booking the other two rooms. Please check individual room listing for prices. Please note that one child between the age of 9 to 13 years old can sleep in the same room as his/her parents. A cot and bedding will be provided. A charge of $75.00 will be applied for the extra child. All rooms have their own T V (Netflix) and wifi & internet reception. Guests may also utilize the schoolhouse portion of the house in afternoons and evenings until 10:00 PM. Please note that check-in time is at 4:00 pm and check-out time is at 11:30 am. Breakfast will be prepared to order in the well appointed kitchen and guests are invited to seat themselves at the counter or informal dining area while the meal is prepared. Guests will be welcomed on arrival and I will be available to offer assistance as needed and to make suggestions for local attractions that may be of interest. I enjoy cooking and will be delighted to chat with visitors over breakfast preparation. In the evening any who may be interested are welcome to join me for sessions of tai chi and/or qi gong. Elora offers a wonderful small town ambience and friendliness together with great restaurants, shopping, art and hiking along the gorge . Most of the town attractions can be reached by walking although parking is also available. Take time to browse and enjoy the slower pace. Elora offers hot air balloon rides and excellent fishing in the river. It is a short drive to St Jacob and StMary's where you can wander for hours through their busy markets and antique wares. Summer theatre and music festivals are also within walking or easy driving distance . You can park your car at the B&B and walk to the main part of town or just a short walk to the trails of the gorge. Should you prefer to drive parking street free parking is available. Bookings are for a minimum of two nights stay. A 10% discount is offered if rooms are booked for one week or more. Additional note for potential guests: -unfortunately, I have had a couple of guests who stained my bed sheets with drinks or scratched the room coffee table. I ask for this reason for a $132.00 (minimum required by airbnb) deposit prior to booking confirmation. The $132.00 will be refunded after positive room inspection. Please be aware that I am not comfortable in asking for this deposit but feel that I have to due to a lack of care of a minority of past guests. I hope you understand my position -Guests are not to use outdoor shoes inside the house (host supplies slippers if needed). -Please use coasters under drink containers to avoid staining or scratching room tables -Please keep noise level low (respect to other guests in other rooms).
