Fantail Cottage is one of 3 near our homestead on a family owned farm in the heart of Karapiro. It borders a country kitchen garden with native birds, and spectacular views. Manicured lawns wrapped around a towering Copper Beech tree boast beautiful roses that smell like grandma’s used to. From the moment guests approach through the tree lined driveway, to when they sit on the deck of their private hilltop cottage overlooking our rolling farm fields, we make sure they feel our hearty welcome. A studio style cottage with double and single bed to sleep 2, the Fantail Cottage has a newly renovated ensuite bathroom, TV, Fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. It’s ideal for those who appreciate luxury and don’t need a lot of space. Each of the three Karapiro cottages opens onto the central gardens, making it ideal for groups to share the occasion from their private accommodation. They all have access to the fully equipped outdoor kitchen, complete with BBQ and dishwasher, and covered entertainment area. We enjoy showing our guests the local scenery. Our DOC approved pest control programme ensures the neighboring private native reserve remains one of NZ's most spectacular. Chill out with native birds and trees, and drink Champagne overlooking the countryside while the sun sets. All of our guests have their own private accommodation with shared access to the country garden, out door kitchen and entertainment area. There is also a shared laundry. Guests can choose to join the family for an evening meal in the homestead ($45 p/person) Karapiro Country Cottages are just minutes from the river, cycle trails, nature walks and many of the area’s local attractions and event facilities, and near all the major attractions and venues. We are literally minutes from the river, Horahora Domain and the karapiro Rowing Club. The Karapiro section of Waikato Cycle Trail is just across the river and Hobbiton, Maungatautari Mountain, Tirau Village, many historic sites and the regions popular event venues are all close by. It’s only 20 minutes’ drive to Mystery Creek and the Avantidrome. Guests can self-cater, in the outdoor kitchen, with fresh vegetables from the garden or enjoy our home-cooked meals prepared with ingredients from the farm. A 3-course evening meal is available on request ($45).
