Welcome to Bala and the lakes, mountains and scenery of beautiful Snowdonia, home to a host of World Heritage sites and visitor attractions. At The Old Workhouse - a Grade 11* listed building - we serve a modern Welsh-influenced breakfast to set you up for the day ahead. The night before we provide you with a breakfast tick menu, from which you can choose what you want, and the time you want it. It is served in the kitchen at the time specified. The kitchen is large and spacious. This newly renovated room is en-suite with a large walk-in shower and is perfect for couples, or just friends, to come and enjoy the beautiful countryside, with a comfortable stay in a historic setting. We also have another letting bedroom, the Poet's Room, which is listed separately, so if you wish to book both rooms - or if the Meyrick Room is already in use - we may still be able to accommodate you. Please look at reviews for the Poet's Room at The Old Workhouse. We love cooking and will provide you with a great Welsh-influenced breakfast. With a little notice we will try to cater for any dietary requests you may have. Where possible our food is locally sourced and the bread and jams are home-made. Guest access You have your own spacious en-suite room, with flat screen tv kettle and fridge. This is our home and we are always happy to chat and advise you about the local area, things to do, and activities available - or leave you in peace if that is what you prefer. If Ian starts to bore you with his history lecture of the workhouse, just tell him to shut up. We are friendly, hospitable people, and want to make your stay as happy and rewarding as possible. Bala sits on the edge of beautiful Snowdonia, and has the largest natural lake in Wales, Llyn Tegid, which is a five-minute stroll from The Old Workhouse. There are fairly regular buses to the coast and surrounding areas and a narrow gauge railway to Llanuwchllyn at the other end of the lake (in season only), but access to a car would be useful Our guest rooms are on the top floor up two flights of stairs. The king-size bed can also be split into a twin, with two single beds, if required. Please specify on booking
