The perfect place to escape to with friends or family, Stonehouse is a handsome c16th country house, situated just 40 miles south of London. Inside, original features, period furniture and contemporary décor provide all the warmth of a classic country home. There are discounts on bookings of 5 nights, 7 nights & 1 month. There is a discount for bookings made 14 days or less before check in. House Stonehouse is a warm, inviting and relaxed home with lovely views of its own grounds. Just the place to relax and / or celebrate with friends and family. The grounds are well away from any roads and include lawns, ornamental ponds, park field, woodland, tennis court and a lake. The house has a wifi network which is connected to the internet via a fast, fibre optic line. The kitchen has all the equipment you could need, with a 4 oven AGA, an electric oven, an induction hob, a dishwasher, microwave, kettle, blender, scales and large American style fridge freezer. The utility area contains a Miele washing machine, a Miele tumble dryer, a pantry and a boot room. The cottage has shared drive access and a private garden whilst the stables and barn are are set well away from the house. You will be welcomed to Stonehouse and shown around at the start of your visit. Should you need anything during your stay help will never be far away. Places of interest within striking distance... The Pub A public footpath winds part way up the drive and connects to a network of countryside walks, the shortest of which (15 mins) is to the village of High Hurstwood. There you can find The Hurstwood pub which serves some of the best food to be found in East Sussex (they will also take large party bookings, if made well in advance!). Events Charleston, Glyndebourne, Buxted Park The High Weald Stonehouse is situated in the High Weald which was designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in 1983. AONBs are part of a family of protected landscapes that includes National Parks and Heritage Coasts. Stonehouse is just 40 miles south of London and only 13 miles from the lovely spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells where there is a regular mainline train service to London Charing Cross/Cannon Street taking just 50 minutes. More locally, Buxted station is 2 miles away and has direct trains, every hour, to and from London.
