A house with fantastic views of sea and countryside. Donegal was voted “the coolest place in the planet” by National Geographic magazine in 2017. They were not referring to the climate! It has been completely professionally renovated, refurbished and redecorated over the last couple of years: new wiring, plumbing, windows, doors, central heating, wooden floors, furniture (apart from some of our antique pieces), bedding, drapery and blinds. In the outhouse where the washer and dryer is, there is a table and two chairs for outdoor use in the south facing garden. There is a high chair and a travel cot available. There is a rear south facing garden for when the weather is good and a washing line should you feel like doing laundry. Owners available by phone and/or email. Buncrana is a lively little town in the Inishowen peninsula on the shore of Lough Swilly. The main street is a 5 minute walk (but a little longer on the way back as the road the house is on is steep, but that is what gives it the amazing views). The other way is into the countryside with fields of horses, sheep and cows. The town has lots of shops, three supermarkets, pubs and restaurants. Almost all the pubs have live music at weekends, ranging from traditional Irish to modern, Latin and jazz. O’flahertys has a quiz night on Thursdays. But if just want a quiet pub to have a chat in, you can find those as well. There are beaches in the town and surrounding area. Sandy, safe and uncrowded. There is a children’s play area by the shore front with swings etc. And there is “Wains World” an inexpensive indoor play area near the house. Donegal people are very friendly and if they meet you they will be genuinely pleased that you have come to visit their part of Ireland. There is a bus to Derry/Londonderry which enables you to see the city, cross the Peace Bridge and walk the historic walls. Visit the Guildhall to learn about the history of the city. There are walks along the beaches and into the countryside. There are two golf courses just outside the town and a renowned one at Ballyliffin about 20 minutes away. Popular spots to visit are Malin Head, Dunree Fort, Mamore Gap, Glasnevin waterfall and the Famine village at Doagh island The shower is electric operated by a pull switch in the bathroom. There is a DVD player in the cupboard underneath the tv and a DAB radio in the kitchen. No pets are allowed.
