Meadow Cottage -picture perfect, idyllic setting.

Meadow Cottage is a charming period cottage attached to our 17th century home. It sits in an idyllic rural location within easy reach of Norfolk's sandy beaches and pretty towns and villages. Surrounded by countryside and nature but within 10 minutes of shops and eating pubs, Meadow Cottage is the perfect dog friendly retreat for two. Bookings are for a minimum of three nights with check in any day except Sunday. The cottage adjoins the owner's home but provides completely self-contained accommodation consisting of an entrance hallway, spacious and bright kitchen diner with vaulted ceiling, cosy lounge with oak beams, wood burning stove and patio doors overlooking the garden and fields beyond. The pretty double bedroom, with window overlooking the rear garden , has natural wool duvet and pillows. There is a small single bedroom and bathroom with shower over bath and heated towel rail; luxury bath sheets and towels provided. There is central heating for the colder months and plenty of logs for the stove. The cottage stairs may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. Whilst having two bedrooms, there is little storage space in the single room and three guests might be too many. This room could be used by a couple who like to have their own beds or when two friends/family members are wanting to holiday together. However, do please enquire if you are three and you think the cottage might suit your needs. A breakfast basket (contents may vary) along with fresh milk and fruit juice is provided. Wi-fi is available but is slow and unpredictable so please do not rely on it. It is also difficult, though not impossible, to get a mobile phone signal. Perfect if you want to get away from it all! The cottage garden is fully enclosed with two seating areas and side access to the good size parking area. Surrounding the cottage are the owner's grounds including spinney, woodland and large wildlife pond; guests are welcome to roam these areas but are advised the ground is uneven and the owners have two friendly rescue dogs who tend to be 'free range'. We welcome dogs to Meadow Cottage but, in view of the size of the cottage and garden, one or two small to medium size dogs is probably best. A water bowl and treats provided so do let us know they are coming! The small market town of Holt with numerous cafes, independent shops and galleries is 6 miles. The beautiful north Norfolk beaches are all within easy reach with the coastal town of Cley next the Sea being 12 miles. Norwich is 19 miles and The Norfolk Broads 22 miles. A pleasant mile walk takes you to the village of Hindolveston with its small farm shop. Briston is 2 miles and has 2 convenience stores, post office, bakery, butcher, fish monger (fresh crab and lobster) and good eating pub. Melton Constable is 3 miles with another convenience store, butcher , bakery selling delicious bread and pastries, Chinese, Indian and fish and chip takeaways. Local places of interest include Pensthorpe Nature Park, The Stody Estate, Swanton Novers raptor watch point , Holt Country Park, The Blickling Estate , Thurston (famous for it's Christmas Show) and Fakenham Race Course. There is ample parking outside Meadow Cottage. The village of Hindolveston with it's farm shop is a pleasant walk but a car is needed to get further afield. The lanes are pretty in the spring and summer but can be mucky in the winter, especially when sugar beet is being harvested and transported. Whilst we live next door and are available should any problems arise or help be needed, guests will be given privacy and not disturbed unless absolutely necessary. Meadow Cottage is in the depths of the North Norfolk countryside, within easy reach of many popular towns and beaches but enjoying peace and tranquility. The lanes are an abundance of wild flowers in the spring and summer and we are surrounded by wildlife habitat. Bird lovers really enjoy visiting. There is ample parking at Meadow Cottage. The village of Hindolveston, with it's farm shop, is a pleasant walk but a car is needed to get further afield. Whilst the narrow lanes are pretty in spring and summer, they can be very mucky in the winter especially when the sugar beet is being harvested and transported. Meadow Cottage is a little distance (about 35 minutes drive) away from the hustle and bustle of the popular Norfolk seaside towns and beaches but people who stay here appreciate the close proximity of all these places whilst being able to return to the peace and tranquility of the countryside.
