Rest, Relax and Rejuvenate!!! This peaceful rural cottage is nestled in the forest among a cluster of cabins on the Koksilah River. BBQ or soak in the hot tub on the private deck or explore the area. Swim in the river only steps away or stroll to the historic Kinsol Trestle Bridge. A short drive will take you to the wineries, golf courses, parks, whale watching tours, horse trails and much more. The cottage is centrally located to explore Shawnigan Lake, Cowichan Bay, Duncan or Victoria. This space is truly a weekend escape for two - complete with private hot tub on the back deck. The cabin is uniquely situated to accommodate exploration to many of the small communities within a short drive. Whether you go up island to Chemainus to see the historic murals or Theatre, to Ladysmith's Christmas Light up, to Cowichan Bay to take in the Crab Fest or to Victoria for sightseeing you will have many interesting stops along the way. There are 15+ wineries in the Cowichan Region, most with tasting rooms. Arrangements can be made for winery and craft brewery tours with pick up and drop off from the cabin through Cheers Cowichan. Outdoor Activities in the Cowichan Regional District are extremely diverse. From Agri Tourism, cycling, hiking, golf, horse-back riding, wildlife adventures and fishing, there is something to please every level of interest. Daily whale watching and wildlife tours through Ocean Ecoventures are available only a short drive away at Cowichan Bay. Explore all of Vancouver Island's marine ecosystem on a small group or personal tour. Alpine Stables is only minutes away where you can arrange a trail ride through an old growth forest, a limestone rock quarry or up to a mountain summit where a camera is a must. Duncan is known as the "City of Totems" and has more than 80 First Nations carvings located throughout the town. For Car enthusiasts, Duncan is home to the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit. Duncan also boasts and a year round Saturday Farmers Market, the BC Forestry Discovery Center and a Casino. A stay at our cabin can be one of both rejuvenating relaxation and amazing adventures all year long. The cottage is located in a rural setting, despite being just minutes from Shawnigan Lake. You will most likely find it easiest to have your own vehicle to both access the cottage and to enjoy the surrounding areas. However, there are some hot spot areas where reception can be found. There is a landline telephone on site for local and/or emergency calls only. Also, during the winter months snow might be an occasional concern. Use of an appropriate vehicle for the conditions in the area at the time of your booking is highly recommended. In addition, the stairs in the cottage to the loft are steeper than normal. People with mobility issues should consider this before booking our cottage. However, descending the stairs backwards as you would a ladder does simplify things for most people with concernss. Otherwise, unless intoxicated, this should not be a concern!!!
