Luxury 5* chalet, sauna, hot tub - Verbier region
Chalet Feiler is a beautiful mountain retreat in Les Collons, part of the Verbier ski area. With uninterrupted views of the sunny Rhone valley and southern Swiss and French Alps, this spectacular chalet can be enjoyed at all times of the year. It may be hard to leave the chalet with its hot tub overlooking the Matterhorn, sauna, TV, movies, fully equipped kitchen, sun loungers, and a number of ‘good reads’ – all surrounded by over 180 degrees of incredible mountain views. Yet if you can tear yourself away there are mountain spas, ski-ing, heli-boarding, paragliding, kayaking, canyoning, mountain biking and horse riding to name but a few (obviously some dependent on weather and season!). Chalet Feiler is a self-catering chalet. There are catering options which are organised by the housekeeper (minimum of 5 days notice required). Please note we provide bed linen and towels. Sleeping up to 10 adult guests plus we have 2 folding beds for children / or 2 cots, we welcome couples, families and friends. Our chalet is family-friendly, with cots, high chairs and a baby monitor. Local childcare can be arranged through the housekeeper (please let us know in advance your requirements). From your bed, wake up to incredible views from floor to ceiling windows. Bedrooms have been stylishly decorated in a mountain style. Luxury mattresses with cotton bedsheets and fluffy goose feather duvets and pillows (anti-allergy bedding also available on request). The entire middle floor of Chalet Feiler is dedicated to the sleeping quarters and comprises three bedrooms with kingsize beds (two bedrooms can also be set up as twin beds), and the bunk room with 4 beds, is perfect for children and adults alike. There are two foldaway child beds or travel cots which can be set up in the room with the sauna in it. This brings the sleeping capacity of the chalet up to 12 guests in total. Each bedroom has mountain views and either has an ensuite bath or shower room. Three of the rooms have access to a large outdoor terrace for further lounging. The open plan living area upstairs is the focal point in Chalet Feiler and is where you will undoubtedly spend countless hours chatting in front of the fire and enjoying the incredible views. The feeling of space is created by the double height ceiling and panoramic windows leading onto the large south-east facing balcony with fantastic views out into the valley. The large living space is cleverly divided into areas for eating and relaxing with a games area and cinema snug area boasting a 38inch flat screen with surround sound. The kitchen is fully equipped with a double oven, induction hob, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, food processor, raclette and fondue sets. Chalet Feiler is a self-catered chalet (although there is a catering option). There is a mini supermarket and croissanterie in the village as well as many larger supermarkets in Sion and Conthey. Our housekeeper can buy groceries for you prior to your arrival. She also organises evening meals, cooked by a local chef (with the option of waiting staff). There are several menu options including some wonderful local specialities such as Raclette. There is also a breakfast option. These should be pre-ordered prior to arrival directly with our housekeeper and she requires at least 5 days notice. On the lower floor, we have a garage, a sauna room with plenty of storage for coats and shoes. There is also a ski room which has specialist storage racks for skis and snowboards as well as a heated boot rack. There is a laundry room with a washing machine and a dryer as well as an iron and ironing board. The chalet is private for your sole use. The panoramic views of the mountains and valleys can be enjoyed from every room and large sun terraces. There is a pretty lawned and decked garden with sun loungers and a hot tub all surrounded by wild flower meadow. Our housekeeper Nicole, is on hand (9am-6pm) to help if there are any problems (and I am also contactable of course if Nicole cannot be reached). There is so much to discover and experience in the summer and winter. We have detailed information in the chalet about activities and on our chalet blog. In the winter season, the ski-ing area of the four valleys encompass Verbier, Veysonnaz, Nendaz and Thyon-Les Collons and they are on your doorstep. Drive 3 minutes to one of several lifts nearby at Les Collons or Piste de L’ours and enjoy everything the area has to offer with over 220 kilometres of slopes and top rated snow parks. We have a technical room to leave your outdoor clothes, ski’s and snowboards. As well as being a skier’s paradise during the winter months, the mountains are incredibly beautiful in the other seasons and there are so many things to do. Activities such as mountain-biking, hiking, rafting, paragliding, horse riding, golf and many others are available on your doorstep. The weather throughout June to late September is invariably hot and sunny, and you can enjoy sunbathing in the garden and the large south-facing balconies. In the summer, we recommend going mountain biking. You can hire bikes from Nico or Eric at Neige Aventure in Veysonnaz. We have some of the best downhill mountain biking in the world right from your doorstep. If you are interested in downhill mountain biking - you can hire bikes specifically for this. Then ride to Veysonnaz, take the lift up and then ride down on the many routes down (you can spend the day going up and down on various routes). Please hire protective clothing for this. A more leisurely option and wonderful way to see the mountains (and cover a lot of ground) is to hire electric mountain bikes (this is highly recommended). The battery packs assist you on any climbs and its well worth it. You can take the gondola’s up the mountain with the bikes. There are some fantastic bike routes (maps are by the lifts or at the bike shops). If you have children, the bike shops also hire ‘chariots’ which seat two children on the back of an e-bike or child seats. Please contact Eric at Neige Aventure, mention Chalet Feiler and reserve in advance. They know our chalet and may be able to bring the bikes to the chalet if you organise it in advance or you can pick them up from their bike shop in Veysonnaz (just as you come into the village on the left). Please make sure you hire helmets too. There is a wonderful picnic spot in Siviez (you can BBQ here) by a stream. And restaurants along the way are marked on the map and they are excellent. Walking the ‘Bisses’ - the ‘Bisses’ (ancient man-made streams carrying water from village to village) offer jaw-dropping views, beautiful wildflower meadows, relatively flat walking (as they follow the contour around the mountains) and many have lovely traditional restaurants along the way. Three Bisses close by to try, with restaurants i) Thyon 2000 to Les Chottes (Bisse de Chervé) 1 hour there and 1 hour back ii) Veysonnaz to Mayens-de-Sions (Bisse de Vex) - 45 mins there and 45 mins back iii) Veysonnaz to Planchouet / Clèbes (Bisse de Salins) - 2hr there and 2 hrs back. We do these with our children (with smaller children it is possible to use a sturdy buggy (e.g. a mountain buggy) but you may have to fold it for some of the bridges). For a big hike, there is an incredible walk towards the Grand Dixence Dam (highest dam in Europe) from Les Collons. From there you can walk to some remote cabins for lunch or even to stay the night. Another wonderful day out is to go to the Bains de Saillons (40min drive). This is a spa with thermal pools. There are various pools in and outside, a lazy river, children’s area with slides, sauna, hamman and steam rooms. There are cafe’s there. Often the tourist office has vouchers for money off the entrance price. There is also a swimming pool at Thyon 2000 (a 5-10min drive up the road). This is a public indoor swimming pool. It is open during high season from Sunday to Friday, from 10am to 12pm and from 3 pm to 7 pm. Closed on Saturday. Price : CHF 7.- adults, CHF 5.- children. The wellness centre of Veysonnaz has a Jacuzzi, hammam, sauna, caldelarium and also cold water baths, massages and relaxation rooms. It is open from Sunday to Friday (closed on Saturdays). Mid-December to mid-April, and July to October 3 pm – 9 pm We also recommend trying the mountain spa’s (both in the winter or summer). They are hot springs. They are about 30-40minute drive away. Le Bains de Saillons is very good – its closer and has more extensive pools and saunas, children area with slides etc. Bains d’Ovronnaz is high up in the mountains so it has lovely views of the mountain tops. Both are signposted from the motorway – head either for Saillons or Ovronnaz. Some local sights and days out further afield, include, the Pyramides (an incredible rock formation), Evolene (a pretty Swiss village), Zermatt (you have to park your car and take a mountain train to the village), Lago Maggiore, the Montreaux Jazz Festival, Grand Dixence Dam, Cleuson Dam (Siviez), Castles at Sion, Interlaken …the list is endless. You need your own car here to make the most of what the region has to offer. In the winter, it is law that you carry suitable snow chains. A daily maid service is possible at 60 CHF per day (please arrange this with us prior to arrival and we need 5 days notice). For longer stays a mid stay bed linen and towel change is also possible (please enquire). We leave some basic provisions (enough for the first few days) such as dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, toilet rolls, washing powder, bin bags, dishwasher tablets etc but you may need to top up.
