The cottage was built in 1756, set in a stunning countryside location, near Abergavenny. This is an original Monmouthshire cottage which still has the original Monmouthshire staircase, which has been lovely restored. This property is very unique and very quite and peaceful a get away from it all but close to amenities. The cottage inside is the original welsh cottage layout (the original stone staircase goes directly to kingsize bedroom and then leads to the double bedroom.) The cottage was built out of the local stone in the area and has been in my family for 150 years. one king size bedroom and one double bedroom, bathroom downstairs with shower, lounge/dining room and kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave/combination oven, electric hob, kettle and toaster. The property has oil central heating and a wood burner in the lounge with logs. There are various books available for guests. The picture on the listing is the cottage available to holiday. Guest have got use of the entire house and have there own outdoor area. A relaxed area with sofa, fire pit and bbq totally private. The hosts lives next door to the cottage. We are available if required, but respect our guests privacy and let our guests enjoy there stay in our cottage next door. We are ideally located for walking and cycling holidays and visiting local attractions such as : museums, castle, local theatre and cinema. A car would be an advantage to visit other areas of interest, such as sugar loaf and pen y fan mountain walks, Blaenavon Big Pit and St Fagan’s in Cardiff. We are 5 miles from the market town of Abergavenny and small towns of Usk and Monmouth. However we are situated a 3 minute walk from the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal , where you can hire boats, canoes, bicycle’s and fishing, a daily pass is required. There is also a cafe in llanover, which is open daily. There is a cafe at the goytre wharf about 5 min walk, which serve breakfast and snacks. The Stairs are a original feature from the late 1800, they are spiral and made from local stone. They are therefore not suitable for small children or adults with reduce mobility. We have a locked shed for storing bikes. We do graze boards on request which are £25 pounds payable locally. Booking in advance essential.
