Stonewalls Cottage is a detached stone cottage situated in the charming village of East Charleton at the head of the Salcombe Estuary in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Set on a quiet country lane off the coastal road, Stonewalls is 8 miles from Salcombe and 9 miles from Dartmouth. With lots of beaches, both sand and shingle, nearby Stonewalls makes an ideal base from which to explore this beautiful location. Just 5 minutes' walk from the house you'll find stunning countryside with views over the estuary and surrounding hills. Fully renovated in 2014, with further works in early 2020, Stonewalls offers accommodation for 6 people in 2 double rooms and 1 twin room. We are happy to convert the twin room to a superking layout on request. Taller guests may prefer to use the main double room and twin room, as the second double is quite compact. There is space for a travel cot in the master double and twin bedrooms. Facilities include a 7 person hot tub, a breeze house with heating and power (al fresco dining for up to 10 people), gas BBQ, outdoor seating and loungers, ample parking, free wifi, freesat TV with surround sound / DVD, comfortable lounge and additional multi-purpose room, fully equipped kitchen with marble worktops and American-style fridge with ice maker, and smart heating in each room. Please note that the garden is to the side of the cottage, and is visible from the front. ***We are in the process of updating our photos to reflect the exciting new additional spaces we have created, and redecoration works we have undertaken this year, please bear with us as this process has been slightly delayed due to the global pandemic and UK lockdown over the past few months.*** ***Covid-19 Precautions*** During the global pandemic we have implemented a variety of safety precautions to keep our guests and cleaning staff safe. These include allowing a minimum of 24 hours between different sets of guests checking out/in, and a rotation of kitchen equipment, crockery, cutlery and utensils, along with cushions and pillows between sets of guests. Full details of these measures will be provided on booking and guests are asked to accept our Covid-19 policy before commencing their trip. Please be reassured that the safety of our guests is our top priority. ***CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR 2020*** We are only able to take bookings for a minimum of five nights during the Christmas/New Year period (18th December 2020 - 3rd January 2021) due to availability of cleaning staff. The cottage is yours to enjoy in its entirety. Please note that parts of the driveway leading to the entrance are shared with our neighbours, so please be considerate when approaching/leaving the property, and only park inside the designated areas. Check-in is via a keysafe, but we're on hand via phone and email throughout your stay to answer any questions, and provide assistance. The South Hams is as far south as you can go in Devon, and is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It stretches from the edges of Dartmoor National Park and features one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the UK running between Torbay and Plymouth. Stonewalls Cottage is in the village of East Charleton at the head of the Salcombe Estuary. Please note that the cottage is situated in a quiet area and several of our neighbours are elderly or have young children. We politely request that all guests act with respect and consideration for those living nearby and keep noise to a minimum outside, or go inside, later in the evenings. There's plenty of parking at the house, and the main bus route stops in the village by the petrol station (2 minutes' walk), with connections to Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, Salcombe and Plymouth, amongst others. There are a range of local taxi providers. Our neighbours are usually on hand to help with any immediate queries, contact details will be provided.
