Whether you're on your own, a couple or a larger group, Tan yr Hall apartment is perfect. You'll have your own space, privacy and quiet yet be just yards away from the shops, bars and restaurants of Bala, the entry point into Snowdonia. A five-minute walk gets you to the beautiful Bala Lake and the town is as central to everything in North Wales as you can get, equidistant to the coast and places like Portmeiron, where they filmed The Prisoner, the flat wilds of Anglesey and mighty Snowdon. Tan yr Hall apartment is special because of its proximity to everything Bala has to offer. If you wish to go out for a drink or a meal in the evening there is no need to worry about how you will get home. Yet in spite of its centrality, it is private and quiet thanks to its double double glazing and position between two quiet buildings. The apartment is full of art works, all of which are for sale (prices on the back). If guests wish to purchase, please call me on (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) and I can arrange for the artwork to be paid for and packaged (and couriered if necessary). For maximum flexibility the king size bed can be split into two - just unhook the bases at the head and foot of the bed. Guests are invited to make full use of the whole apartment. Downstairs there is a courtyard with a covered section which is ideal for storing bicycles or kayaks or pushchairs. I don't live in Bala permanently but am often there because I own the art gallery downstairs. But I'm always at the end of a phone line and can usually sort out any queries that guests have. One of the remarkable things you'll notice is that Welsh is the prominent language used in the street, the shops, bars etc. In fact 80% of Bala residents speak Welsh and all education is carried out through the medium of the Welsh language. But don't worry, everyone speaks English as well. Have a go at some Welsh words: say diolch (deeolck) instead of thank you, bore da (boreh dah) for good morning. A very useful word which can mean OK, right or yes is iawn (eeaoon). It's not as bad as it looks. We can't boast a British Rail station any more but we do have a delightful small train that chuffs its way along Bala Lake to the village of Llanuwchllyn every hour or so. Bala is on the bus route between Chester, Wrexham and Barmouth - every hour or so). Bala has two large car parks, one on your left as you enter Bala from the east and one just off the high street, behind the Co-op.
