Negombo Beach Apartment

A first floor apartment in a two story house is available. It is only 5 minutes walking from the beach and local restaurants, and 15 minutes walking away from the nightlife of the Negombo Beach strip with its bars and international restaurants. Excellent location, walking distance from Negombo beach and all the bars and restaurants. Set in a rural location behind the main beach road, surrounded by coconut and mango trees, very peaceful, very quiet and yet a short walk to the beach and bars. In the evening you can sit in the peaceful garden and listen to nothing other than the birds in the trees and the occasional tuktuk passing by. This apartment is also attractively priced given its great location. Guest have access to complete apartment and garden. The air conditioning in the property is disconnected as its not normally needed as there is usually a cool breeze off the sea, however if you do need it then you can pay locally a fee of 500 rupees a day for this facility. The host is a Manager of a local restaurant/pub so works most days to cover lunch and evening shift. However Malika and Randeer are available downstairs majority of the time, so if you have any questions they will be delighted to assist. By the way Malika is a great cook and would be delighted to prepare you a traditional Sri Lankan rice & curry for a very small fee if you ask her. Breakfast is not included, however down the road on the beach is a lovely beach bar called The Beach Lodge that do a great western or Sri Lankan breakfast, lunch and dinner. The beach is only a 5 minute walk and if you would like to have night out the strip of Bars and Restaurants are only a 5 minute Walk. The property is located in an area called Palagathura junction which is basically located at the north end of “beach Rd” which is the main strip with all the bars & restaurants. In the last 12 months Palagathura junction has been transformed and now comprises of some of the best bars & restaurants in Negombo. However with a huge difference than the rest of Negombo, better quality and lower prices than the established bars like Lords, Rodeo & Serendip which are situated near to Jetwing Blue. On the land side of the road is the delightful family restaurant run by 2 twin brothers – Sunnys Restaurant with its modern setting and interesting attached art gallery. Sunny specializes in seafood and Sri Lankan rice & curry. On the same side of the road, close to the junction is Machang which is a new bar/restaurant, this is a franchise owned by Lion beer so here you will find the cheapest beer prices on the whole strip. You can sit upstairs and watch the world go by. Opposite Machang is Bee Beach, again newly opened and has a lovely beach setting, its great here for sunset watching and they have great seafood, chinease food, pizzas and their highly recommended Sri Lankan rice & curry. Just to the left of Bee Beach is Coco Beach, again a delightful modern beach setting. Prices are slightly higher than its neighbours, here they specialize in seafood where you get to choose what you want and how you want it cooked, its open clean kitchen gives confidence of its high standards. Just to the left of Coco Beach is the newly opened Bamboo Kitchen, again modern design that you don’t often see in Sri Lanka and out the back a relaxed beach setting, great food, good value and at weekend they do buffets from just 800 rupees per person. Palagathura Junction is now a new buzzing scene of Negombo and if you are looking for something late at night where you can drink with the local boys and its cheap. I mean cheap! Where its just 350 rupees for gin & tonic or 300 rupees for beer then it has to be Macerena which is just the other side of Bee Beach. Macerena however doesn’t get busy til after 11pm and at weekend its normally open til the early hours. What ever it is you would like to do or see we will help you. There is a bus stop just down the road for buses to Negombo bus terminal or Kochchicade We can arrange boat tours of the Dutch canal, trips to the fish market, bike and motorbike hire. You can use the swimming pool of a local boutique hotel called St. Lachlan, just a 15 minute walk away or short tuktuk ride, they charge only 500 rupees and also offer a great selection of lunch and drinks
