Villa 232 - Dutch Bay, Trincomalee
Villa 232 is a cosy hide-away whose back garden gate opens directly onto beautiful Dutch Bay. It has recently been lovingly restored, maintaining the footprint of its original design, while incorporating a feel of crisp yet rustic modern comfort. Tucked unassumingly into charming residential Dyke Street, the villa is perfect for a couple looking for a unique romantic beach home, or can serve as a cosy beachfront get-away for families / groups of up to four. Villa 232 is located on a quaint residential street that backs right onto the crystal clear turquoise waters of Dutch Bay. Along with our neighbouring properties it is closer to the ocean than any other villa we know of in Sri Lanka - the back garden gate opens directly onto the beautiful beach. The villa is a fairly unique concept for Sri Lankan villa tourism. As you walk down the quaint residential street, or down the beach past the fisherman casting their nets in the same manner they have for centuries, you would have no idea that tucked behind the unassuming facade is a spacious comfortable villa with almost every modern convenience. Right outside the villa on the beach guests can relax on cushioned sunbeds under a large umbrella. The two bedrooms are air conditioned. The living room and kids' room each have a 40" TV with cable TV and a home library of movies and TV shows for guests to enjoy. The kids' room has a Sega Megadrive (genesis) old-school gaming system for kids and adults to enjoy! Bring your password for your favourite streaming service (Netflix, Amazon etc) and you can log in directly on the living room TV. A portable bluetooth speaker is also provided. The villa has fast fiber-optic wifi internet. Guest will have their own keys and the whole place to themselves, with staff available when needed for cleaning, sweeping etc. The owners Kian and Janah usually stay nearby, a few doors down on the same street. We have an unobtrusive style of hosting - we will do everything we can to make your stay comfortable and you will be able to reach us 24/7 with any questions / concerns. You will have the place completely to yourself with your own set of keys - nobody will be in your way unless you request it. We are always more than happy to provide any help, advice or local tips that we can about sightseeing around Trincomalee / Sri Lanka etc. The neighbourhood is a warm and friendly authentic Sri Lankan residential community. Unlike stays at so many hotels where guests are totally secluded and cut off from local life, at Villa 232 we feel guests have the best of both worlds. Once inside the property you have complete privacy and seclusion, but step outside and you will see real Sri Lankan life; children playing on the street on one side and fishermen hauling in their nets on the other. The villa is just a few minutes ride by car or Tuk Tuk from Trinco's bus stand and train station. China Bay airport is around 20 minute drive away. The air conditioned supermarket Food City is around 10 minutes away. You can see Fort Ferderick (Trincomalee's historic Dutch Fort containing the famous Koneswaram Hindu temple) from our back gate and walk there in around 10 minutes). Free wifi, complimentary mineral water, quality tea and coffee and complimentary toiletries are provided. Two bicycles are provided for guests to use. Vegetarian Sri Lankan breakfast is included. Other meals are sometimes available on request. We also provide info and can advise you on all the various eating out / take-away / and delivery options in the area. IMPORTANT NOTE ON SEASONAL WEATHER: Most of the year Trincomalee is a very hot, dry and sunny destination. In case you didn't already know, please be aware that Sri Lanka's East Coast has a completely separate monsoon rain season to the South / West of the island. The worst of the East Coast monsoon falls between November and January every year. (It can't be predicted exactly but the rains usually really set in around mid November and the sunny days begin to return again by Christmas time). While there can be sunny days here and there during the monsoon season, in general during that period the sea and beach conditions will likely be very different than they are as seen in the pictures from high season. (Low season pricing is set accordingly). All this applies to the entire North East of Sri Lanka of course - we just want to make sure our guests know what to expect at that time of year :)
