#4 Cozy Crooked Cottage @ The Cottages on Petite Lake

This cottage sits atop the bluff of Petite Lake and is full of whimsical cottage charm. Just steps away from the beach, there are sweeping lake views from multiple rooms! The Cozy Crooked Cottage has three bedrooms, one of which is accessed by a spiral staircase up to the third level. The master bedroom view may just be the best on the property! The kitchen is small but mighty and has a dining area just off kitchen space so there is seating for everyone. Your private backyard overlooking the lake has a fire pit, grill, backyard games, picnic tables and hammocks. After a long day in the lake, camp out in the backyard with s'mores and a bonfire! The new addition was completed in November of 2021! It features a large great room just off the the dining area. With 3 floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors, the views of the lake are spectacular. This room has comfortable sofas and chairs that sit in front of a large flat-screen smart tv and electric fireplace. This upgrade allows for the larger dining table to seat 8-10 people and provides further storage for the kitchen. The French doors leading into this room can be closed and locked to create another private bedroom with a sleeper sofa, if desired. Expect spiders, webs, ants, bees, mosquitoes or other usual lake house critters. You'll see lots of chipmunks, squirrels and bunnies around and wake up to the birds chirping, too! *This is a pet friendly cottage! There is a fee of $50/pet for up to two dogs. We do not allow cats. *Please only bring friendly, well-behaved dogs as this is a resort and other people may be around. Dogs may not be left alone, especially outside, in common areas, or in the cottage. If left alone in the cottage, a crate is mandatory. *Pets must be kept on a leash when outside and they are not allowed on the beach or in shared spaces, unless everyone in that space is okay with it. As much as we might love dogs, not everyone does. Please be considerate of those with allergies or fears. *Pick up after your pet every single time. Poop bags provided! *The beach is accessed by a large set of outdoor stairs- about 35. See photos for reference. *There are security cameras on the parking lot, beach and piers for safety and rental boat purposes. No cameras are on/in any of the rental units or outdoor yard spaces. *The pier is made up of floating docks and can be wobbly when the lake is busy. The lake is very busy on the weekends and more calm on weekdays. *The price is on a sliding scale. The base price is aimed to make the cottage more affordable for single families. There is a $10/night fee for guests beyond 6. Owners David and Jessica, along with several staff members, are around the property every day working on ways to improve ambiance and provide a comfortable stay. Guest interaction can be as frequent or minimal as you make it! We can be contacted through the app or called/texted directly at any time. Phone numbers are provided upon arrival. The Chain O'Lakes is in northeast Illinois and is composed of 15 lakes connected by the Fox River and man-made channels. Located on the border of Lake County and McHenry County, the area is about an hour's drive from the cities of Chicago, Milwaukee, and Rockford. Additionally, the Chain O'Lakes includes the beautiful Chain O'Lakes State Park which borders three lakes.
