Perched on the slopes of its own 4 acre wooded valley, Quinta do Bom Vento is a traditional Portuguese smallholding now fully renovated. A comfortable and relaxing central base for the Silver Coast attractions. The Atlantic is the original farmhouse at Quinta do Bom Vento. Now completely renovated with a feature 22 sqm sun room boasting beautiful valley views, it offers a very stylish and spacious base in which to explore the Silver Coast and beyond. Accessed through its own entrance from the spacious inner courtyard, modern comforts abound within the traditional Portuguese design which was built with metre-thick walls out of local stone. The interior has been gutted and renovated, and you will be relieved to know that the original exterior bathroom and kitchen have now been brought indoors! Although there were originally 2 bedrooms they were small and now we have knocked them in to 1 to provide a lovely Queen size bedroom, with quality linens and towels, wardrobe and dressing table. In addition the large conservatory has a separate small WC and plenty of space for an additional single bed if required. There is a flat screen TV with the main UK channels, a live flame pellet burner for heating if required, and WiFi. The main bathroom also has a WC and a walk in custom built shower. The fully fitted kitchen is very comprehensive with full oven and hob, fridge and freezer, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. With an interior of 67 sqm there is also space for a breakfast bar and dining table and you have your own private terrace for outside dining too. This overlooks the garden with your own path to the valley. The buildings are all based around a central courtyard but each property faces a different way which ensures you can be social or private depending on your mood and is great for people travelling together who still want their own personal space and downtime. Each property has its own entrance, kitchen, luxurious bathroom and private terrace or deck. Each ''quintinha' has its own garden and/or terrace but then feeds in to the 4 acre wooded valley which you are welcome to roam in, with or without or dog. We are surrounded by apple and pear orchards and there are paths leading off for treks all around. You can tell how much we love this area and farm as we live here too in one of the storage 'lean toos' now converted of course. We are only too happy to help in whatever way we can but after working hosting guests on private yachts for many years we know to give you your personal space too. The way QBV is designed ensures you can easily escape or not know if anyone is around. If we are not working maintaining the gardens or keeping the brambles at bay in the valley, we enjoy surfing this coastline, playing badminton and walking our dog Scrabble - YES we love that game, too and each apartment has its own board! Quinta do Bom Vento is named after the tiny hamlet of Bom Vento which means Good Wind and is rarely featured on maps as it is so small. Farmers focus on growing Pera Rocha pears and apples from this designated areas so orchards of these lovely fruits dominate the landscape. However 7km down the hill is the picture perfect medieval village of Obidos and then a further 15 mins gives you access to numerous beaches and coastal towns so we think it is the ideal base for exploring the Silver Coast. Even though we are only 7km from Obidos, you definitely need a car to explore this area. Knowing how frustrating it can be renting rural properties and arriving to an empty fridge and cupboards, we provide an extensive starter pack including milk, butter, cold meats, cheese, bread, fruit, tea, coffee, wine and beer along with essentials such as washing up liquid, paper towels, oils and vinegars. etc. Recognising the ever restrictive luggage allowances on flights we also provide toiletries and beach towels. We also have 2 rescue dogs - Scrabble and Bingo. Both are overly friendly black lab crosses - one more retriever, the other more a pointer. They are not roaming freely on the property, but are not averse to joining you on your walks if you want them to go too!
