Cosy farmhouse in the silent hills of the Creuse
Villa Bâton is an old farm with a nicely renovated farmhouse, 3 barns and 6 hectares of beautiful land around, secluded and safe, in a low covid area. At the end of a winding road in the silent hills of the Creuse far away from the city you will find yourself unwind and enjoy the peace and beauty of this hidden area. The river runs nearby, there are amazing walking routes and at night millions of stars shine down on you. It's an ideal place for a good rest, or a intimate Christmas celebration. The bed in the bedroom is made of two single beds that combine into a comfortable double bed with an extra top mattress. The couch in the living room can be quickly transformed into a double bed. The house is surrounded by many hectares of meadows and trees and has some great views over the valley. From every window you will see green grass and trees and probably some deer walking by. At night it can get very dark and it is very silent. The old traditional stone house is just recently renovated and has a city-like air to it. To us it is like our city apartment in the countryside! During the colder seasons you will need to heat the house with the two woodstoves which can take a bit of practice but gives of a very nice warmth. (Bring warm indoor shoes, woolen socks and wellies and don't forget to bring a torch!) In summer there is an option to put up one or two tents next to the house for extra guests or children. As the bathroom is easily accesible through the 'back door' the people staying in tents can use it too. You will have access to the ground floor of the house, the attic and barns are private storage areas. You can always send me an e-mail or send a text message when needed. I will make an appointment for the time of arrival and show you around. When you leave you can either make another appointment or just leave the keys at the house. Thijs's house is situated in Le Bourg-d'Hem, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Frankrijk. The Creuse is a beautiful natural and undiscovered area with lots of great walks and things to do and see. There are lots of animals (owls, deer, birds) and big old oaks. The river is at 2 minutes drive - or 15 minutes walk - and a joy to go to for swimming, canoeing, fishing or to drink a coffee at the beach cafe. There are the weekly brocantes in the week-ends in little villages, nice markets and some good small towns that are worth visiting. You won't see many tourists though, unless you go to the one and only irish pub in the neighborhood. Public transport is practically non existent around the house. You can get to Gueret or La Souterraine by train but that's about it. If you come to stay at our house make sure you come by some kind of motorized vehicle or bicycle. Be careful, you might never want to leave...
