Come for outdoor adventures in beautiful Trout Lake, WA. You can fish, ski, snowshoe, or kayak, & bike from our 20 acre farm nestled in its own private valley on the White Salmon River. You will have a spectacular view of Mt. Adams out of every window. Our charming 1 bedroom guest suite (ADU) is connected to the main house by a breezeway so you will have complete privacy. The gas fireplace makes the space cozy & warm, and the kitchen has everything you need if you choose to stay in and cook. This one bedroom suite is large and spacious, with a living room and kitchen. There is a covered porch accessible from both the living room and bedroom with spectacular views of Mt. Adams and pristine farmland. You will have your own entrance, but please note: THE SUITE IS ONLY ACCESSIBLE UP A FLIGHT STAIRS. Also the only bathroom is located in the bedroom. Please note** This suite sleeps 4, it would be most comfortable for 2 adults. It can sleep 2 small children as well, as there is a futon and a twin mattress.. Its a small space which would be tight for 4 large adults. 1 small dog under 40 pounds is allowed, they will have their own fenced in area directly accessible from your suite. There is a one time $40 pet fee which will be added at the time of booking. Please let us know ahead of time if you plan on bringing a pet. Dogs that visit will have access to to their own large fenced in yard. Please keep dogs on a leash when outside of this fenced area, as this is a small working farm with free range chickens, and livestock. We have 2 Great Pyranees that roam the property and are livestock guardian dogs. You will be able to lock your own door from the inside that connects to the breezeway. Homeowner is sometimes at main property but is reachable 24/7. The farm is surrounded by wild and scenic areas and the volcanic history of the area makes the property, the river canyon, and surrounding areas very interesting to explore. Rugged trails lead through dense forrest, lava fields, river canyons, and some small caves. Caution, there are some steep 80' cliffs on the NW end of the property. This property is on the famous "farmlands route" of the White Salmon River and is popular for winter, spring, and early summer white water rafting and kayaking. Choose to terminate your run on the south end of the property for a short, but aggressive run. Trout Lake is a bucolic small farming and timber community with organic agriculture, small family farms (CSAs), and is the jumping off point for outdoor adventure for all seasons. Other features: Gateway to Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Indian Heaven Wilderness Area, Mt Adams Wilderness Area, Goat Rocks Wilderness Area, Trapper Creek Wilderness Area, Mt St Helens, and Mt Hood are all accessible from Trout Lake (depending on winter conditions). Many Pacific Crest Trail hikers stop off in Trout Lake to rest and pick up packages from the post office. Late fall, winter, and early spring activities include mushroom hunting, hunting, cross country and back country skiing, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, mountaineering, and snowbiking. White water kayaking is also popular. Or just sit by the fire and read a good book while looking out at the mountain. Summer and early fall activities: Horseback riding, horse endurance racing, road & mountain biking, white water sports, fishing. Go to White Salmon or Hood River for windsurfing and kiteboarding, paddle board or flat water kayak the mountain lakes, float trout creek, steelhead or salmon fish the Klickitat River. Plan a wedding or attend a farm to table dinner event. Adventure riding, enduro race, or dirt bike in designed OHV areas. Explore deep river canyons. Spelunking/caving. Forage for huckleberries. Climb Mt Adams and ski down. Hike and backpack. Attend a Druid festival for summer solstice. Attend a local UFO event and search for alien life. Big foot hunting. There is no public transportation, and if coming from Oregon you will need $2.00 cash each way for the toll bridges.
