18th Century Charming & Cosy Cottage
Welcome to my home-from home! This 18th century cottage is nestled a stones-throw from open countryside and is brimming with character. The cosy cottage features original stonework and stylish decor throughout. With a cosy wood burning stove for colder nights, there is a bright, flower-filled garden to enjoy on warmer evenings. In the heart of the beautiful village of Sutton Veny, it's and a short walk to the local pub, medieval church and with the village green & children's play park opposite. I fell in love with this cottage (& the village) and love to stay when I'm not on my narrowboat. It's teeming with charm and quirks and it's a good bolt-hole for me, away from the hubub of modern life. As such, there is no TV (but we do have fantastic WiFi if you'd like to bring your own laptop) and no microwave, but we do have a Smart sound speaker to tune in to whatever is your thing! The two kingsize bedrooms are perfect for visitors, and the Snug is the perfect place to be if you need some relaxation time. PLEASE NOTE: If you have children, please email first with their ages and needs to make sure I can accommodate. It's not the most child-friendly home for more than one little one, but it's at your digression once we've had a chat. The stairs to the attic room are very steep so not suitable for those with limited mobility. There is a small & private garden to the back for al-fresco evenings. I'll be a available remotely and happy to talk anything through with you should you require it. Sutton Veny is a quintessential Wiltshire town and lies in the beautiful Wylye Valley between Salisbury and Bath. It is approximately 2 miles from the town of Warminster. Longleat House and Safari Park are close by as well as Centre Parcs, where you're able to visit for the day, and with Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa just around the corner, there's plenty of activity choices. For those who love a good stomp in the countryside, you can't really go wrong whichever direction you head off in. We recommend Ordanance Survey maps, apps or website to plan walks, be them long, short, challenging or meandering. The local pub, the Woolpack, is ideal for a pint and are praised far-and-wide for their cuisine. Don't forget to visit St. Leonards Church, which dates back to the 12th century and is a lovely walk from the cottage. As mentioned, walking is the most beautiful way to go once you've arrived! Head up Bests Lane (opposite) and head right to get to St. Leonards Church along the fields. Head up Hill Road to get those thigh muscles going (can you make it up without stopping!?) There are train links to Warminster and if you're not a driver yourself, a taxi can take you the 2 miles to the cottage. The top attic room is in the eaves and thus has limited standing height. FOR THOSE WITH CHILDREN: Owing to the lay out of the property, I would not recommend a stay in the house if you've more than two children under 5 years old. Please do get in touch if you'd like to chat about wether the space would be appropriate for your needs.
