Ski Cottage in the Berkshire hills
Ten minutes from Jiminy Peak, but surrounded by woods. Perfect for a family ski getaway or a small group of friends, our cottage features a cathedral ceiling in the open living/dining area. There's a galley kitchen & a table for six. There are 3 bedrooms (two double, one twin), one full and one half bath. There's a washer dryer by the entryway and baseboard heating in every room. The nights are starry and tranquil, and the days reveal the beauty of the Berkshire mountains. This is a cozy cottage that comfortably sleeps six people. The picture windows look out over the valley and the meadows of our 120-acre wooded property to the Berkshire hills beyond. Not a modern condo, our house is homey and comfortable, with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The open galley kitchen is equipped with electric range/oven; microwave; dishes, pots & pans for cooking and baking; the dining table seats six. The swing seat in the living room is sturdy enough for 2 adults. There's a glass-front pellet stove in the main space which is both cheery and great at keeping the house warm, but you can also use the electric baseboard heat in each room-- your choice. Overlooking the main room is an open loft for relaxation. There are 1 and 1/2 baths and a washer/dryer. Linens, cookware, WiFi (dsl, not high-speed) and satellite TV channels are included. You’ll find a mix of double and twin beds in our three bedrooms. Note: while there is a bedroom and half bath on the ground floor, the main living space is up one flight. The stairs have handrails but may prove steep for those with mobility issues. The whole house is yours. You'll share the 120-acre property with our other house (about 150' across the driveway), which is booked separately. We may be in the other house when you're there (you'll know before check-in), but if not, we're easily reachable by phone. We're only seven miles from Jiminy Peak, but much less crowded- you'll go from the slopes to seclusion in about ten minutes. The house is on 120 acres of pristine meadows and woods, with stars and mountain views. Between Mass MoCa and Tanglewood, we are 30 minutes from Williamstown and Great Barrington. New Lebanon is a 20 minute drive, and it's 10 minutes to Jiminy Peak and the Hancock Shaker Village. Both Lanesborough and Pittsfield are each just a little farther away. While the town is small, it does have a nice used bookstore. Oh, and a riding stable. The nearest train station is in Albany. The bus station is in Pittsfield, MA. You'll need a car to get to the house. In winter, our preference is to rent by the month or week, but if you are interested in a weekend, send a message and we'll gladly consider it. Discounts for the ski season (Dec - March) also considered. Let's talk. One further note: there is no municipal trash pickup, so those checking out on Sundays, when the town dump is closed, will need to carry trash out and dispose of it at home.
