Nestled by the river Bollin in a most special location, centrally located in the picturesque village of Prestbury. Hawthorn Lodge offers boutique accommodation, sleeping up to 5 guests across 2 bedrooms. Open plan living, dining and kitchen space with direct access on to the wraparound waterside terrace. Beautifully furnished with touches of luxury alongside all the comforts of home. Walk out in the evening for fine or casual dining, music, champagne bars or just a drink at the village pub. Hawthorn Lodge: this Bollin riverside setting near the bridge is peacefully residential and within Prestbury’s conservation area. Centrally located in the village but on a quiet grove away from the buzz of the main street’s restaurants, pubs, bars and shops. It’s a pleasant blend of vibrancy and relaxation where the community values its heritage and recognise the privilege of living in one of Cheshire’s most salubrious locations. In many ways, Prestbury is understated compared to the glitz of its affluent cousins in Hale and Alderley Edge. Smaller in size and population, Prestbury village has retained much of its charm over the years with it’s centre-point still being St Peter’s Church with its early 18th century lychgate and Norman Chapel dating back to 1175. The business owners through The Village and New Road have worked to maintain their presence through the recent pandemic and the whole community has pulled together - coming out of the other side of it supporting local commerce and initiatives. On any day of the week the village is bustling with life - residents and visitors alike. It’s a haven for cyclists and walkers passing through on one of many formal or informal routes…all welcomed by the community…happy to share their amenities. Prestbury is also known for its prestigious golf course at Prestbury Golf Club and is also easily accessible for Mottram St Andrew’s Champney’s 18 hole course, Tytherington Golf Club and the two 9 hole Academy and Heritage courses at Adlington Golf Club. The village also has a cricket club, tennis club, squash club, football playing fields, and multiple equestrian facilities. 3km away is Macclesfield town…walkable through Bollin Riverside Park or via roads (though this route is further if a pavement footpath route is preferred). Macclesfield is quite a unique town…often overlooked in favour of tick box tourist towns it has a rich cultural heritage that appeals to the more discerning visitor. It is known as the silk capital of England and recognised as the western end of the ancient Silk Rd that ran through Europe through the 19th century. Silk is referenced everywhere here and the weaving industry brought prosperity and cultural influences that are still visible in the town’s physical architecture and indeed its personal values today. Also known as ‘Treacle Town’ after an upturned cart incident and now home to the famous ‘Treacle Market’ every first Sunday of the month. Macclesfield Forest provides unlimited opportunity to explore on foot or mountain bike and the Peak District National Park begins here. Even Macc’s football is back on the up! Driveway space for two vehicles included with the accommodation. Prestbury rail station is 5 minutes walk away with direct routes to Manchester (30mins), Macclesfield (5mins) and Stoke. Great location for walkers and cyclists - access to Bollin Riverside Park is 2 mins away. From here you can walk in to Macclesfield up the Bollin or divert off to the Middlewood way. Or drive / cycle up to Macclesfield Forest for various walks including Standing Stone, Shutlingsloe, Wildboarclough. Alderley Edge nightlife is 10 mins by taxi.
