Les Vieux Chenes- LVC - ‘The Cottage’ is situated within the heart of the Loire Valley countryside making it a perfect base for discovering rural France. It has private parking and use of a swimming pool The accomodation is furnished to a high standard with plenty of personal and homely touches and necessary contents for an easy and relaxing stay within an inviting, comfortable open-plan space with traditional charm. The courtyard has space for entertaining and a barbecue with sun loungers from where you can enjoy the peace and quiet of village life, interrupted only by the occasional car or tractor passing the house. Especially in these tough times you can still be away in your own’ bubble’. We have private parking and access for The Cottage. The Cottage is an absolute must for adventurers, walkers, golfing, fishing, cycling, tennis, birdwatchers and history enthusiasts. The night sky is incredible, away from light polluting towns and cities, with views of the Milky Way and plenty of shooting stars If you like nature and outdoor activities and want a place to have fun and relax with family or friends, then Lake Sidiailles 4km away is great for entertaining the kids - tree climbing, giant zip lines, pedal boat, canoeing, bungee jumping, paintball, swimming, pétanque, beach volleyball, hiking, climbing. Everything is there for you to have a great day, with family or friends! The quiet local village of Saint Saturnin has a local shop for basics but a few minutes away is Chateaumilliant which has a restaurant and bar, local market and many shops. Lake Saidialles is a 4 minute drive, It is a stunning lake with an 18km walk around the edge. It has 8 zip lines across the lake in which you can swim and canoe and (Website hidden by Airbnb) also has a mini beach and a cafe. There is a local French version of our car boot sale/charity/antiques shop called ‘Brocantes’. These are situated all around the area, well worth a visit for a variety of typical French items, junk or maybe uncover a real gem!! There are also many markets selling homemade products and fruit, breads and cheeses. The Medieval town of La Chatre (34km) is a town steeped in history dating back to the 100 year war with museums and beautiful buildings. It also has an abundance of restaurants ranging from fine dining to pizza/burger places. Being a larger town, it is good for shopping and being socible. Culan is 7km away and has an outstanding Chateaux, beautiful walks and local amenities. There is a new Morrocan restaurant and burger takeaway with 2 fantatsic Boulongere and Patisserie. Montlucon (30km) has a fabulous old historic quarter which is worth a visit, offering more bars, restaurants and shops. There is also a ten pin bowling alley and an indoor swimming pool. Obviously due to Covid many Restaurants and Bars still have restricted opening times. Many are re-opening and there is now a wide variety of places to eat and drink. We will aim to keep you updated. You will need a car as we’re outside the village. Parking is private next to The Cottage with it's own entrance. Please note that The Cottage has a double bed and a single in the bedroom upstairs, also a cot is available. Downstairs is a double sofa bed.
