This area is the best kept secret of Acadia National Park—the Quietside of Acadia, away from all the craziness of Bar Harbor in summer but a fantastic off-the-beaten-path gateway to some of the park’s best features. From this location, you can hear the lobster boats and bell buoys in the morning, smell the ocean air, see the fog roll in. Your very own classic vintage-style Airstream. Fire pit, Adirondack chairs, and grill included! This is an Airstream travel trailer. The pictures include different waterfront locations where we have taken her upon our guests’ requests, as well as our three Acadia Vintage Airstream properties near the coast. Because she is a travel trailer, we often take her where our guests want her to be (think, waterfront properties for weddings, extra guest house for summer folks, etc). Even local waterfront campgrounds! If you don’t have your own space, we are happy to share one of ours. Direct waterfront access is a possibility but not a guarantee. We don’t allow guests to move or tow the trailer, but we can bring it anywhere on island you would like her to go, assuming you are allowed to camp there! Otherwise we have multiple locations set up for our trailers depending on availability. All of our Airstream properties are located just a few steps from the ocean. We typically suggest our full-service hookup spot neighboring the harbor (a few feet away and just across the street, not directly waterfront) because of the access to better WiFi and wired electricity (which means more reliable A/C). This particular spot is a fantastic location a bit caddy-corner to the area known as the Bass Harbor cove and village. There’s not a direct water view from that trailer hookup location, but it’s just a stone’s throw away (a few steps down the driveway). This is a viewpoint area where everyone pulls over to watch the sunset over Bass Harbor, just across the street at the harbor…and a few steps from your front door. As to general vibe of the area, this is the best kept secret of Acadia National Park—the Quietside of Acadia, away from all the craziness of Bar Harbor in summer but a fantastic off-the-beaten-path gateway to some of the park’s best features. From this location, you can hear the lobster boats and bell buoys in the morning, smell the ocean air, see the fog roll in. You can’t get much closer to being on the water than this spot! In summer high season, our tranquil, convenient location can’t be beat—walk or bike to Bass Harbor lighthouse, Acadia National Park’s Ship’s Harbor and Wonderland trails, the fabulous Seafood Ketch restaurant and Mainely Delights waterfront bakery, the ferry to Swan’s Island..all within walking/short bike ride. The pin on the map indicates the farthest you would be from the water.
