Our traditionally hand-built oak shepherd’s hut lies in a private and tranquil setting, one mile's drive from the historic Cotswold market town of Lechlade-on-Thames, and 12 miles from Cirencester, The Capital of the Cotswolds. It combines a traditionally hand-crafted interior with all the comforts you would expect from a modern glamping experience. Enjoy the lovely setting of this romantic spot in nature with nothing overlooking the hut, it truly feels with a little piece of paradise! Fern's Retreat Shepherd's Hut comes equipped with its own kitchen area, including double ceramic induction hob; farmhouse Belfast sink; and refrigerator. There is a full-sized water-fall shower, wash basin and WC. The dining area is equipped with a flush-fitted dropdown oak table, carefully recessed into the underside of the counter-balanced pull-down full sized double bed for maximum floor space when not in use. The hut is well insulated with sheep’s wool keeping it cool in summer and warm in winter. Guests can also fire up the log-burning stove, should you want it a bit warmer. The hut is finished in Farrow and Ball colours, solid oak flooring, Bakelite switches, hand-sculpted shelf brackets and fixtures, with blacksmith forged door handles and coat hangers. The hut has the benefit of high-speed 100mb wi-fi. Bicycles are available for guests to use, and there is a gas bbq and a tripod firepit for those balmy outdoor evenings, looking across the farm, lake and woodlands. Guests have access to the beautiful walks through the surrounding area, including nearby access to public footpaths and the Thames Path walkway. Parking is available directly outside the shepherd’s hut. PLEASE NOTE - If you wish to bring your well behaved dog (one only) please request this in advance as we have free range animals on the farm. We also ask that they be kept on a lead outside at all times. Ample free parking within the grounds of the securely gated farm . Early luggage drop off can be arranged upon request. Access available from 4pm Departure by 11am PLEASE NOTE - If you wish to bring your well behaved dog (one only) please request this in advance as we have free range animals on the farm. We also ask that they be kept on a lead outside at all times. We do believe that people like their own space and with that in mind, Fern’s retreat has self check in via key code. However, we are always at the end of the phone, or indeed in person to help with any questions or advice on how to get the very best from your holiday! PLEASE NOTE - If you wish to bring your well behaved dog you must enquire prior to arrival and there will be an additional £10 fee added. We supply a starter box of logs /kindling and firefighters for the fire pit and the wood burner. If you require Additional supplies, a box of logs, kindling and firelighters are available for £10 per box payable on site. Located in the heart of Cotswold Water Park, with stunning walks, bike rides, paddle boarding you name it we have it locally. With acess to M4 / A40 all with in 20 minutes of the Shepherds Hut Lechlade is a small attractive riverside town on the edge of the Cotswolds. and gets its name from the River Leach which joins the Thames just east of the town. From the earliest days, it was an ideal location for a settlement as the rivers were a source of food and an easy way to travel. Today, the population of Lechlade is just over 3100. There is a healthy tourist trade, particularly in the summer when the Thames is busy with cruisers, narrowboats and small boats. There is good fishing in the local rivers and lakes, country walks in the stunning Cotswolds countryside, and various nature reserves in the area. The town is the perfect staging-post for visitors to the Cotswolds. Warrens Cross is midway between the historic town of Cirencester (The Roman Capital of England) and the dreaming spires of the City of Oxford, home to the oldest University in the English speaking world! As we are located about a mile outside the small town of Lechlade, it is helpful to have a car. Whilst staying here at Warrens Cross, we have some bicycles which guests can use to explore the area. There is an acceptable bus timetable from Lechlade to surrounding towns and cities but please bear in mind that the service is not as you would expect in larger cities. Taxis are available locally. We are a small family business, and we strive to offer guests the very best standards of comfort and hygiene. We would respectfully ask that you leave the property in a clean and tidy condition. we are delighted to offer stabling for guest's horses at a rate to be agreed. We have excellent facilities including a recently built 60 x 30 arena with full set of showjumps. We have ample riding around the land, and are very close to some large Dressage, Showjumping and Eventing venues, making us a beautiful alternative for overnight competition stabling! PLEASE NOTE - If you wish to bring your well behaved dog (one only) please request this in advance as we have free range animals on the farm. We also ask that they be kept on a lead outside at all times.
