The (Black Mountain). 7 nights. A converted barn cottage, meticulously renovated with traditional materials (wood, glass, steel, stone) but providing great modern comfort, including new appliances. The cottage lies in the heart of a working farm where dogs, sheep, lambs, horses and other farm animals meet. It is an extremely peaceful place, with magnificent views of the Pyrenees and is an ideal base from which to explore the region. Cottage dimensions 110m2, terrace 50 m2, rating 3 stars. A spacious and bright barn cottage, nestled on the southern slopes of the Montagne Noire (the Black Mountain). The cottage was meticulously renovated with traditional materials (wood, glass, steel, stone) but provides great modern comfort, including new appliances and a wood burning stove should it feel chilly. The cottage lies in the heart of a working farm where dogs, sheep, lambs, horses and other farm animals meet. It is an extremely peaceful cottage, with magnificent views of the Pyrenees and is an ideal base from which to explore the region. There are many walks, traditional markets, and lots of history, including the neighbouring castle village of Saissac. The cottage is on the edge of the village of Cenne-Monestiés, renowned in the region for its resident artists and lively social calendar that includes summer festivals and performances. The village is a 30 minute drive from Carcassonne and a one hour drive from Toulouse, both of which receive a range of international flights (including Stansted, Bristol, Dublin, Manchester and Heathrow). The A61 AutoRoute (which connects Toulouse and Carcassonne) is accessible via the medieval town of Bram, a 15 minute drive away (exit 22). Bram, Toulouse and Carcassonne are also well connected to the French rail network. The beaches of the Mediterranean are a one hour drive. A car is advised as connections between the village and elsewhere are generally very limited. The calm and rural atmosphere of the place will seduce you. This is a place that allows you to get away from the bustle and live a simpler life for a while. Tranquility is assured as is your privacy. Our animals graze in the meadows that surround the house, our dogs are friendly and the private terrace offers some beautiful views over the Pyrenees and surrounding countryside. Our choice of building materials also ensures that the functioning of the cottage is environmentally friendly. The house is freshly renovated and many of our clients don’t smoke, so we ask that smokers use the terrace (which is very pleasant). Dogs are not allowed
