Parsons Pen offers different type of camping. Set in a copse, with a flat grassed clearing, nestled on a sheltered hill on a working family farm. You rent the entire site, which is yours alone, ideal for families and groups of friends. There will be no other guests unless you decide to invite them to join you. Located in West Dorset near the Jurassic coast, Bridport & Beaminster. The site has extensive views of rolling valleys and deciduous woodlands, a short walk gives glimpses of the sea. The centrepiece is a Safari Tent on a decked platform (off the ground, no damp). Inside a 5ft king size bed, optional single beds, a log burning stove and plenty of space for your children to set up camp. Outside a flat grass area gives plenty of room for extra tents. We can put up our bell tent that can sleep up 6 people for a one off fee of £75, please request this in advance of your arrival. The camping area leads into the copse. An enormous Ash tree is at the heart of our shaded and sheltered dining area and relaxed sitting platform with bbq fire pit alongside. The table seats 10 on bench seating. A covered outdoor kitchen with a wood-fired pizza oven, two ring camping gas burner, sink, squirrel proof cupboards, crockery, cutlery, cooking pots and pans, utensils and a cold box are included. Exploring deeper into the copse reveals a table tennis table, a compost loo with a view, a washbasin and a tree shower. The site is off grid although there is solar lighting and a gas water heater. There is no WiFi - escape from that. There are no ensuite facilities but when you have a loo with a view and a shower in a tree, en-suite will seem so last year. We don’t stock your food cupboard although there are great independent food shops in Beaminster, a farm shop, weekly market and a selection of supermarkets in Bridport. There will be times in the year when eggs, lamb, pork, beef, salad and vegetables will be available from the farm. Because there is no electricity we do not provide a fridge however there is a cool box with ice packs. In an attempt to keep prices affordable for you we have decided not to provide bed linen and towels so please bring your own sheets, duvet cover, pillow cases, blankets and bath/beach towels. The bed is a kingsize as is the duvet. The mattress will have a clean (sanitised) protector. We do provide hand towels and tea towels. Most importantly we do not want to provided a ‘glamping’ experience. This is about staying in nature as harmlessly and with as little impact as possible. NB We sympathise how expensive it can be to travel with children nowdays. Therefore we only charge £10 per child per night for children up to 16 years old. When booking complete the Number of Guests for 17+ yrs only and message us with number of children up to 16 yrs old. The cost for them can be paid when you're here. We do allow well behaved dogs that must be kept under control at all times to protect our livestock, horses and wildlife. There is a nominal charge of £20 per dog to cover additional cleaning. Please message us if you would like to bring your four legged friend. The copse and tent field are all yours. We encourage guests to explore the rest of the farm and woods but please check which field the bull is in first! We'll guide you through where to go on check-in. We usually available during your stay and are always available at the end of the phone. We are only three fields away should you need us. Parons Pen has amazing views, dark night skies, the occasional visit from our cows, sheep, pigs and horses and of course the local wildlife. There are plenty of great walks nearby such as the South West Coast Footpath and Jubilee Trail. Bridport has a twice weekly street market and a dedicated Vintage Quarter full of collectibles. The nearby beaches offer everything from swimming, fossil hunting, water sports, fishing trips, crabbing, fish & chips and plenty of ice-cream. There is a strong local food culture with many excellent restaurants, farm shops and deli’s. During half term and school holidays check-in/check-out days are either: Monday - Friday (4 x night stay) Friday - Monday (3 x night stay) Monday or Friday for 7 x night stay
