Rural house with pool and short drive to beaches

Four bed modern home set in beautiful garden with pool. Located in rural area but within 30 mins of beautiful beaches and lovely Ponte de Lima. Verandas, lovely vista and outdoor bbq. Great for families, groups of friends and secluded romantic getaways. One bedroom has separate access and its own kitchen and shower/wc. Please note that parties or inviting others to the house is not permitted Comfortable combined kitchen/dining/living room off the veranda; large double bedroom with en-suite shower/WC; family bathroom with bath/shower, WC, whb and bidet; double bedroom opening onto rear veranda; twin bedded room; self contained double with shower/WC and kitchenette. The whole house (unless otherwise negotiated), cultivated parts of the garden and pool. We have wonderful friends and neighbours who look after the house for us. The wife, Aurora, is on hand to help and speaks Portuguese and French. This is a tranquil rural setting with swallows drinking from the pool in the heat of the day and bats flitting around from sunset. Behind the house is a wilderness hill that you can trek up on myriad paths (don't lose your way) and you may encounter a herd of wild horses; one of the eagles that patrols the valley; or a shepherd and his flock of goats and sheep. Twenty minutes drive away is the beautiful Romanesque town of Ponte de Lima with its river beaches, canoeing, theatre, many restaurants and weekly markets. Twenty to thirty minutes drive will take you to beautiful, often almost empty, white sand Atlantic beaches with surfing, kite surfing and great cafes. 45 to 50 minutes drive will take you to Guimaraes, a beautiful historic city and world heritage site; Braga a lovely university town or Porto for a river cruise on the Douro, the Port caves and so much more. There is a bus that runs either to Ponte de Lima or Barcelos but it's infrequent so you really need a car to get around or to and from the local shops which are about 2km away. About 8km away is a railways station where you can get a train to Porto, Barcelos (one of the largest weekly markets in Europe) or to Viana do Castelo and up into Spain. Occasionally Snr Dantas and his wife will visit to maintain the swimming pool.
