Our stunning house in the tiny village of St Ferme in South West France is surrounded by the vineyards of the Bordeaux region. With 5 spacious bedrooms it sleeps 12 people and is the perfect holiday destination for a family or group looking for a real taste of French country life. The house is next to the huge 12-13th century abbey, with a bakery 2 minutes' walk away and all amenities in the nearby village of Monsegur. The garden and pool are perfect for outdoor relaxing and dining in summer. The four-storey house has a basement (used for host storage only); open-plan first floor living level with large kitchen/laundry, dining and lounge area and guest bathroom; third floor bedroom level with four double bedrooms (three with king beds and one with 2 singles) and two bathrooms with tiled showers. There is a fourth-floor attic level which has a separate bedroom with king bed and a large living-room area with a double sofa bed, baby cot and 2 extra mattresses with all bed-linen and towels provided. Guest access to the free-standing house is from the spacious car-park area, through the gate and up the flight of stone stairs. The door key will be available as instructed by email from the owner to guests on their arrival. Owners are absent, but our caretakers can answer any questions and are available to help with any questions or problems arising. The small village of St Ferme has its own bakery, post-office and junior school and is surrounded by vineyards and fields of wheat, maize, sunflowers and plum-trees. The beautiful city of Bordeaux, often described as a mini-Paris, is only an hour's drive away and is well worth a visit. The must-see cobble-stoned village of St Emilion (45 minutes by car), known by all wine connaisseurs boasts a multitude of excellent restaurants and boutique shops. Your own car is necessary to access the local villages and towns but the regional train service is regular and reliable to the larger towns (St Foy la Grande, Marmande, Langon, Bergerac, etc) and to Bordeaux. If you fly into Bordeaux you can hire a car, pick-up/drop-off from/to the airport. Traditional local morning markets, St Foy la Grande, La Reole, Marmande, Bergerac - Saturday; Duras - Monday; Sauveterre - Tuesday; Pellegrue -Wednesday; Eymet - Thursday; Monsegur - Friday. Night markets (summer only) Monsegur Wednesday & Duras Thursday night.
