Only few steps away from sea, cliffs and magic panoramas. --english version below-- L'appartamento è nell'antica palazzata del fronte mare, con una finestra si affaccia direttamente sul panorama unico dell'isola e della costa di Portovenere, con l'altra nel cuore del suo caratteristico e pittoresco caruggio. Da poco ristrutturato conservando le caratteristiche uniche e curiose dei modi di vivere del passato, come le finestrature interne e le geometrie "inclinate", senza rinunciare alle comodità del giorno d'oggi: pavimento in legno; due bagni completi, di cui uno con doccia particolarmente ampia, provvista di seduta e finestrino; una cucina-soggiorno spaziosa e luminosa, completa di tutto (lavatrice e lavastoviglie, forno elettrico e a microonde, connessione Internet Wi-Fi). La stanza da letto matrimoniale è un piccolo nido, con un ampio armadio. La stanza sul mare ha due letti singoli standard, componibili come divano se non c'è necessità d'uso; vi sono anche una poltrona-letto da una piazza e due armadi spaziosi. * - Le porte della cucina e della camera matrimoniale sono old style e per persone molto alte potrebbero risultare curiosamente "corte". ------ The apartment is located in the ancient line of houses at the seaside, named "palazzata", with one window on the unique panorama of Palmaria island and the coast of Portovenere and the other window on the vivid and typical ligurian lane (caruggio) Recently renewed, it keeps old, characteristical and intriguing/odd architectonic solutions (such as internal small windows and "tilted" walls) and offers at the same time many modern comforts: wooden floor, two bathrooms equipped with everything is needed, including bidet, hair-dryer and shower (one with a seat and a small window inside a huge shower box), a kitchen-living room with washing machine, dishwasher, electrical and microwave ovens. The double room is a nest for a couple, with a roomy wardrobe. In the room on the seaside, two single beds can be arranged to a single coach; there is an armchear too that can be turned into a bed (single size). * - Kitchen and double room have old-style doors and very tall people can find them couriosly "short". La scenografica chiesa di San Pietro, quella di San Lorenzo (più vissuta dagli abitanti), il castello, la Grotta Arpaia (detta di Byron) e i caruggi del paese bastano da soli a riempire gli occhi e il cuore di chi si ferma ad apprezzarli. È anche un borgo che si riempie di vita, turisti, viaggiatori e musica per l'estate, pieno di negozi per tutti i gusti e numerosissimi locali e ristoranti che è bene prenotare in anticipo. È presente un piccolo supermarket dove è comodo fare le compere per le serate più... domestiche. Nel borgo, le macchine non entrano fisicamente e le aree per il parcheggio adiacenti sono spesso piene e i posti sono a pagamento. Non è inusuale fare lunghi tratti a piedi sul lungomare per raggiungere il paese antico. --- Portovenere is a town, part of an exceptional landscape. The scenographic San Pietro church, the San Lorenzo church (more attended by inhabitants), the castle, the Arpaia Cove (also called Byron's Grotto) and the typical ligurian lanes, are enough to fill with beauty the eyes and the heart of the people who's visiting the town. But it is also a place full of life, tourists, travellers and music during summer, with many shops of all sort and a lot of restaurants (it's a good idea to book in advance) There is a small supermaket, where it's handy to buy food and drink for no-restaurant options. The ancient town is car free (the lanes are too tight); the parking areas next to it are usually complete and there's a park fee when you find place. It's usual to cover relatively long distances from the parked car to the ancient town, on the modern boardwalk. Portovenere è su uno sperone roccioso tra due golfi, quello della Spezia e quello di Genova: fa da cerniera tra il versante, densamente abitato ed edificato, dove si concentrano servizi e vie di comunicazione, e il versante esterno, selvaggio, sul mare aperto, dove un'antica rete di sentieri e scale in pietra permette l'accesso a una delle zone più autentiche e isolate della Liguria. Ancora oltre si giunge alle famose Cinque Terre. Di fronte al paese l'isola Palmaria domina la scena, nascondendo altre due isole alle sue spalle: il Tino (visitabile solo il 13 settembre, meteo permettendo) e il Tinetto, che ha giusto spazio per i resti di antico eremo. La Palmaria è caratterizzata da numerose caverne, tunnel e forti semiabbandonati dalla guerra, spesso nascosti da una fitta vegetazione che ha alcune peculiarità botaniche. E da due ristoranti con servizio serale di trasporto in barca. Durante il giorno si raggiungono le spiagge dell'isola con un servizio di battelli che parte dal porticciolo sotto casa. La Spezia è il centro principale, con collegamenti via bus e battello con Portovenere, che vanta una storia di mutamenti notevoli di cui da poco tempo si stanno evidenziando le tracce; la vita notturna inizia ora ad essere vivace e varia. Ci sono interessanti musei: il museo archeologico presso il castello San Giorgio, il Museo Lia di arte figurativa, il CAMEC - museo di arte moderna, il Museo del Sigillo. --- Portovenere is situated on a rocky spur between the Gulf of La Spezia and the Gulf of Genoa - the main ligurian coast, as a border stone beetween the very populated and urbanized slope, where are services and transport connections, and the external slope, wild, on the open sea, where an ancient path web and stairs of stones allow to reach one of the most authentic and isolated place in Liguria. And beyond there are the popular Cinque Terre. In front of the town, the Palmaria island holds the stage, hiding two more islands behind: Tino (closed to public, besides on September 13th if weather is good) and Tinetto, very tiny, offers just the place for the remains of an ancient hermitage. Palmaria has many caves and pits, tunnels and ancient and modern fortifications abandoned (or almost abandoned) after the last world war, often hidden by the peculiar vegetation of the island. There are two restaurants offering boat connections in the evening. During day time is possible to reach the island beaches by the boat service based just next to home. La Spezia is the main urban center, with bus and boat connections to and from Portovenere, has a history of radical changements that leaved traces rediscovered only recently; the nightlife begins to be vivid and rich nowadays.
