Picturesque Old Smiddy Cottage
A former blacksmiths workshop lovingly modernised to provide a bright and comfortable cottage. Located on the waters edge of Loch Katrine in the heart of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with washer/dryer, microwave and dishwasher. Bed linen and towels are provided for your stay. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate a Sunday arrival or departure. The Old Smiddy is located in the very heart of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park on the shore of Loch Katrine. The perfect backdrop to enjoy our beautiful cottage. We aim to provide a clean, comfortable and calming environment in which to enjoy your time here in the National Park. The Cottage is situated on a private road, access is therefore by a coded electronic barrier. The road continues behind the cottage and around the north shore of Loch Katrine. Used mainly by cyclists and walkers there may be the occasional vehicle. There is plenty to do here, lots of walks to explore, from a gentle stroll to more challenging Bens to climb and cycle routes for all. Water sports, golf, horse riding and tree top adventures at Go-Ape. Surely something for everyone, or maybe just stay at the cottage with a good book and the log fire on those cold wet winter days. Due to the waterfront location parents with young children please beware. Dogs are welcome subject to confirmation with the owners and they should be denied access to the upstairs of the property and its bedrooms. There is a surcharge of £20.00 per pet. WiFi is made available for the duration of your stay. Guests have access to the full property and the surrounding outside area. We use a keysafe system but we can be contacted by telephone or email. The beauty and tranquility of the area makes for the perfect socially distanced holiday. Plenty of walks, whether a gentle stroll along the shoreline or something more challenging. Water based activities, golf, horse riding, cycling all nearby. The Sir Walter Scott Steamship sails through the summer to Stronachlachar and to avoid disappointment its best to book ahead. You will need your own transport to get around. Please be aware of the proximity of the water for young children. The area is remote so perhaps plan ahead for any groceries. There isnt any public transport to the area.
