The Saltings - Waterside Tranquillity
Welcome to The Saltings; a tranquil, waterside paradise in which to unwind and relax. This site is steeped in history and listed in the Domesday Book. The cottage offers comfortable and well-equipped accommodation, overlooking a wildlife-rich, tidal water meadow. With outdoor seating areas and stunning walks along the creek, there is much to enjoy! The accommodation consists of a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, with a cosy sofa and internet-TV. There is a lovely shower and an upstairs double bedroom with wonderful views across the meadow. Babies are welcome and a travel cot is available. Guests have access to the hectare of meadow, 200m of riverbank, with great wild swimming spots and an outdoor willow shower. There is a dock for launching kayaks as well as a concrete slipway for larger boats. This location is perfect for exploring the beautiful river Dart. After a day of rest or adventure, why not stroll to one of the two nearby waterside pubs? Just cross the stepping stones (at low tide) or the nearby humped-back bridge (at high tide) and take your pick! Alternatively, walk (10 minutes) to the village of Ashprington for a memorable meal in the 18th Century Durant Arms. The Saltings is just two miles outside the interesting and quirky town of Totnes, where there is a weekly market, a medieval castle and many independent shops, restaurants and cafes. From the property, you can walk to the local Sharpham Vineyard and Dairy. We recommend a visit to the café or sampling some of the award winning wine and cheese. Alternatively, follow the picturesque cycle and footpath alongside the river Dart, all the way to Totnes. Please note; due to the nearby thatched cottage we are required to strictly prohibit any smoking, fires or BBQs at the property.
