A bright, sunny, net zero space with incredible views The activity in Bass Harbor provides an ever changing show from the comfort of either the indoor living area or our elevated deck. The comings and goings of the fishing fleet, the Swan’s Island Ferry, pleasure boats, and occasional windjammer are right in front of you. You can look down on one of the few remains small boatyards that still make wooden boats. The same yard provides boat tours highlighting the local scenery and lobster fishing demonstrations. There is a waterfront restaurant within a short walk and others within a short drive. Nature provides additional entertainment where eagles and ospreys are constantly circling the harbor and often pass by you at near eye level. You will have a front row seat to some of the most amazing sunsets you will ever see. All of this is available in a building powered by the sun. Rooftop solar panels provide the energy required to make your stay comfortable in this newly constructed, energy efficient home. You rest peacefully here knowing your carbon footprint is as close to zero as we could make it. We even provide reusable shopping bags. Acadia National Park and the Bass Harbor lighthouse are just minutes away. The trails of Ship’s Harbor and Wonderland are less than a 10 minute drive. Bass Harbor marsh and the upper harbor provide a peaceful, safe paddling experience where you will see a variety of wildlife from the ever present birdlife, bold deer, and even the occasional seals and otters. We are a only a short distance away should you have any questions Bass Harbor, Acadia National park, and the Atlantic Ocean are all nearby. The free Island Explorer bus passes regularly past your door. It will stop for you if you flag them down. Many of the trails of the quiet side of Acadia are just minutes away. Harbor tours and water front dining are just across the street.
