Meander down a peaceful country lane near the quaint hamlet of Edith ... & immerse yourself in the charm of 'Beechwood Cottage’. Our Cottage had its humble beginnings in the (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) s as a pisé farm worker’s dwelling & has been lovingly restored by your hosts into what is now a homely country residence. Come & stay awhile. Be refreshed in the highlands, marvel at our wide-open skies & be touched by the dusting of starlight. 'Beechwood Cottage' is your COVID-safe country destination. The Cottage offers three bedrooms. There is a luxurious queen bedroom, (the 'Olive Room'), and a second bedroom, (the 'Highland Room'), which has two single beds that can easily be made up as a king bed upon request. The snug third bedroom, (the ‘Meadows Room’), has a trundle bed that can become two singles. All are provided with quality linen, seasonal doonas and electric blankets. The 'Highland Room' has an extensive selection of books and a small TV. There is a large, fully equipped country-style kitchen, including a fridge, microwave, oven with cooktop and a dishwasher. The modern bathroom is beautifully appointed. A spacious and comfortable family room awaits, complete with a blue-tooth sound bar, a small music system and a selection of classic CDs. There’s also children’s books, Lego & toys. There is Mobile phone reception - dependent upon your service provider. There is also Internet (with unlimited data). PLEASE NOTE: Due to the Cottage being located in a ‘rural’ area, there could be fluctuations in the strength of the Internet signal. A wonderful & efficient slow combustion wood heater in the family room effectively warms the Cottage throughout. Heaters are also provided in most rooms for added comfort. There are also ceiling fans throughout. For our guests’ enjoyment, a special ‘Beechwood Cottage’ Continental Breakfast Basket is provided with our compliments. The breakfast consists of: A range of cereals & porridge, fresh bread, fresh cream milk, (with Soy or Almond milk upon request), fruit juice, farm fresh eggs, a range of condiments & butter, a selection of teas, coffee pods, a variety of Nestlé sachets and freshly-harvested highland rainwater. The Cottage is set privately within the picturesque, 20 acre property of ‘Strath|Anann’. Beechwood Cottage is surrounded by its own fully fenced house yard and is screened from the host’s farmhouse, which is a little over 120 metres away, by a stand of magnificent Cypress Pine trees. The Cottage house yard provides ample space for our guests to enjoy outdoor activities, or perhaps to simply sit and relax under the beautiful Portuguese Laurel tree. A good supply of pre-cut firewood is provided. There is a large covered rear deck from which to enjoy the panoramic views, a gas bbq and a fire-pit to sit around and perhaps toast a marshmallow or two (seasonal fire conditions permitting). Follow us on (Hidden by Airbnb) : @beechwoodcottageedith The Cottage is set privately within the picturesque, 20 acre property of ‘Strath|Anann’. Beechwood Cottage is surrounded by its own fully fenced house-yard and is screened from your host’s farmhouse, which is a little over 120 metres away by a stand of magnificent Cypress Pine trees. Please Note: For your safety and as there are horses agisting in the paddocks that surround the Cottage, guests are requested to remain at all times within the Beechwood Cottage house-yard. (These horses are trotting race horses and can at times be skittish and unpredictable, and can kick. If you choose to wander into the paddocks, we, as your hosts, will not be responsible for your safety). Guests also need to be aware that there is an unfenced dam on the Eastern boundary of the ‘Strath|Anann’ property. Once again, we strongly suggest that you stay within the Beechwood Cottage house yard at all times. Entry to the Cottage is via self check-in. The lock box is located on the front veranda, the combination of which will be provided upon a confirmed booking. As your hosts live in the main farmhouse on the property, response time will generally be within an hour via a text or voice message, or in person. During these uncertain COVID times, if there is the need for your host(s) and the guests to interact, full COVID safety measures will be strictly adhered to. Masks and sanitiser are provided at the Cottage for guests, and social distancing would of course be observed. Please note that your hosts are both vaccinated. Your hosts also hold a current First Aid Certificate including CPR training from Royal Life Saving (Australia). ‘Beechwood Cottage’ is ideally located to experience and enjoy the many and varied attractions that the spectacular Oberon district has to offer. The Jenolan Caves, (with the famous Chisolm’s Restaurant in the Grand Dining Room at Caves House), Kanangra-Boyd National Park, and the Waldara Farm Wedding Venue are all within a short drive. At the Edith Common, guests can enjoy a free game of tennis or cricket or utilise the picnic tables there. Visit the magnificent Mayfield Garden and our 18-hole Golf Course on shores of Lake Oberon. The Evans Crown lookout, (near Tarana), is a worthwhile walk and you’ll be rewarded with a stunning vista. Try your hand at trout fishing on Lake Oberon or one of the area’s mountain streams. The lake is also ideal for kayaking, however you’ll need to bring your own craft & gear. Please also note that Lake Oberon is classified as ‘alpine waters’ so ensure you are very well prepared for the conditions… even in Summer. Perhaps fossicking, mushroom or truffle gathering might interest you. And there’s also horseback riding available in the Oberon area. We encourage you to call into the Oberon Visitor Information Centre for further details. See also: (Website hidden by Airbnb) The township of Oberon, 15 minutes away, offers restaurants, cafes, a wood-fired Pizza Bar, Pub food and supermarkets, for your dining and provision requirements. Our local ‘Casey’s Vineyard’ and the award-winning wineries of Orange and Mudgee would also make for a wonderful day’s outing. Perhaps you’ll be tempted to visit the ‘Sparadise Japanese Bath House’, about an hour away at South Bowenfels, this side of Lithgow. You will need your own transport when you stay at ‘Beechwood Cottage’. There is ample free on-site parking available. Your hosts are both fully vaccinated. As we are a COVID-safe location, we will also require all our guests to be fully vaccinated. If a guest is unvaccinated for medical reasons, proof of a negative test prior to their arrival will be needed.
