Beautiful 17th Century detached Cotswold stone cottage, renovated and furnished to a high standard, located off a quiet country lane with far reaching views, a parking space and patio area. The open plan ground floor looks across the hosts cottage garden, has many original features including a traditional stone fireplace with wood burner, exposed beams and feature walls. The oak staircase leads to the bedroom and bathroom and fabulous views can be enjoyed across the valley. A little gem! The entrance to the cottage is down a short path with three steps leading to the stable door. The open plan ground floor has a kitchen area with fridge, sink, combi-microwave, gas hob, kettle and toaster together with a dining table and two chairs. The lounge includes a sofa, 43 inch TV, window seat and a wonderful Cotswold stone fireplace with wood burner (free logs provided). The hosts live next door and there are lovely views across their country garden and adjacent field. The handcrafted oak staircase with handrail is steep and narrow and leads to the light and airy bedroom which has a traditional double iron bed, combi wardrobe and chandelier. French doors with Juliet balcony provide fabulous views across the valley to Rodborough Fort and Minchinhampton Common. The bathroom has a large shower, heated towel rail, sink and toilet. Towels are provided. The entire cottage is immaculate and exudes quality and charm having been newly and lovingly renovated by the hosts. All the qualities needed for a rural retreat or romantic break. With Wi-Fi throughout, the outside world is never far away! Outside, there is a lovely patio area with table and chairs, a great place to relax and admire the cottage garden views, birds and wildlife. There is one parking space on the steep drive which is shared with the hosts. The cottage is within the grounds of our property and we aim to be available to meet and greet you on arrival, say farewell on the day of departure and be there to help during your stay should you need us. Self check in is available with the lockbox. The picturesque village of Selsley, which has an award winning pub just a few minutes walk from the cottage, is in an elevated position with fabulous Cotswold views in all directions. It is a walkers paradise, with Selsley Common and the Cotswold Way just a short stroll from the top of the lane. Selsley Church with its stained glass windows designed by William Morris sits just off the Common. There are numerous places to visit nearby including Coaley Peak, Woodchester Mansion, the famous Stroud Farmers Market (Saturday’s), Highgrove House gardens, Berkeley and Thornbury Castles and Westonbirt Arboretum which features summer concerts and is especially stunning in the Autumn. Please check websites for pre-booking information. Sainsbury’s supermarket is less than a mile down the road and there are a number of cafes, pubs and restaurants nestled in and around the area. The cottage would be a great base to take in events such as Badminton and Gatcombe Horse Trials and both Cheltenham and Bath Spa are around 40 minutes drive away. Shared off road parking available for one car next to the cottage. Please note the drive is steep. Stroud and Stonehouse, both 2 miles away, have their own railway stations with direct lines to Paddington and Cheltenham, and there is a bus stop in Selsley village.
