Trails End is our special place in Maydena , it's unique earthy but modern character and warm fire makes for a cosy and relaxing stay. The timber cladding and concrete floors give feel of a mid century cabin styled home. She is set in a lovely landscaped garden with magnificent views from most rooms, her kitchen seated areas are huge and overlook the mountains and garden area which lends itself to the comfortable gathering and unwinding of larger groups after a day on the trails. We are passionate mountain bikers and would like to share our house amongst some of the best trails and Wilderness areas in Australia with you. Trails End is a two minute bike ride from the Maydena Bike Park Hub. Trails End was renovated in 2017/18, downstairs has polished concrete floors and has a slight industrial cafe feel here is the kitchen, dining, living and smaller bathroom with shower. As yet there are no internal stairs to get to the upstairs bedrooms but there are external stairs. We have a newly styled kitchen with big panoramic windows and two new big fridge freezers , a 90cm gas hob and oven , two sinks, a microwave oven and a huge illuminated kitchen Island . Other appliances include a slow cooker, two sandwhich presses, a blender , mixing stick and a Nespresso coffee machine ( we supply a pod per person a day) Our pan and cooking utensils are extensive. There is also a dish washer and bosch front loader clothes washing machine and dryer in this area. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms , a lounge area and a larger spa bathroom. The downstairs bathroom runs on electricity and the up stairs spa bathroom runs on gas so you will never run out of hot water. The upstairs bathroom has a spa bath with a shower over it ,a hand basin , toilet and change area. The lounge room upstairs is very cosy with leather sofas, artisan throws and cushions and art work, lamps and a lovely warm wood burner. There is also a queen size sofa bed here too. The flat screen T V is new with a sound bar and sub woofa to blue tooth in your tunes . There is another wall mounted TV in the living area downstairs and a Marshall speaker to blue tooth tunes into down there too. All three bedrooms have new, top quality King single size sleep maker mattresses , cosy wool rugs , retro lamps and art work . They all have a hand crafted clothes rail and suitcase stands , all rooms have fans and heaters. The bed linen is hotel quality and professionally laundered. Entry is via a digital keyless lock both upstairs and downstairs, We will send a code just before arrival. There is plenty of parking for numerous cars on the property. There is also a new purpose built lockable bike shed next to the house , here you will find a floor pump, bike stand and tools and plenty of space to store your bikes. Near the bike shed is a bike wash area with hose, bucket and washing brushes. The gardens have fruit trees, kiwi vines , a huge bay tree, green tea leaf bush, nut trees, lots of herbs rosemary, oregano, parsley, mint and many others you can help yourself to. You can access the entire house, sheds and grounds We will not be there to great you but you can call anytime with queries and we have someone near by to help out. The small riverside village of Maydena is the gateway to Tasmanian World Heritage wilderness , is surrounded by mountain peaks and is the home of the Maydena MTB Park. Maydena is also a great stop on the way to Lake Pedder, and Mount Field National Park is only a 10 minute drive away. Mount Field is the home to one of Australia's most beautiful waterfalls Russell Falls a tiered cascade waterfall and there is a lovely tall trees walk . Also near Maydena you can walk through some of the tallest trees in Australia at the Styx Big Tree Reserve. Nearby there are numerous rainforest walks with towering swamp gums and one of the best trout fishing rivers the Tyenna river. Near the bridge at Maydena you can often spot platypus. Mount Field with its mountain scapes and trees also encompasses a cave system, glacial lakes and ancient turns and heath groves. The Junee caves and springs are in Maydena and well worth a visit as are Marriot falls just down the road towards Mount Field. New Norfolk , is great to visit for its selection of antique shops ( willow court antiques, the nurses quarters and the Patch work cafe) The Drill Hall antiques, and the Flywheel artisan paper and print shop . It is also the home of The Agarian Kitchen and bookshop well worth a visit and probably one of the best restaurants in the Hobart region. Maydena is a 40 minute drive to New Norfolk , Hobart airport is a 90 minute drive away, Hobart is a 1 hour 10 minute drive and Launceston and Launceston airport is a 3 hour drive away . Derby is a 4 hour and 20 minute driveway and Devonport is a 3hours and 30 minute dive away. Alternatively you could hire vans, utes and cars and mini buses with trailers from the airports and city centres through all the major rental companies. For your stay we will supply all bed linen and towels, body wash, soap, shampoo and conditioner, tea , coffee 3 types, sugar, 1 ltr UHT milk, olive oil, herbs , chilli, salt and pepper, foil, cling wrap, bbq cleaning wipes, dish and clothes cleaning powders, dish clothes , matches, fire lighters. There is a fire extinguisher next to the woodburner and in the kitchen below the sink. The power switch for the cooktop ignition and oven is located on the above the bench next to the cooktop. You should arrive with all your groceries for your stay since there is only one very small general store/ burger shop in Maydena that can supply bread and milk and some basics. One of the first houses on the left when entering Maydena does sell free range eggs and some seasonal vegies and of course stopping at the berry farms enroute is great but the nearest supermarket is in New Norfolk a 40 minute drive towards Hobart. There is The Maydena bike park cafe open at night and sometimes they have BBQ meal nights up at Eagles Eerie and shuttle you up the to dine at the summit, there is a bar there too but enquire about week night openings. There is a small RSL in Maydena and The National Park pub a 10 minute drive away serves meals beside the fire in a pleasant dining room. The first aid kits are kept in the upstairs bathroom cabinets , and in one of the white plastic draws in the kitchen. Please use especially if you have cuts since it may prevent blood stains on the sheets.
